Just in case someone thought they would get their Camaro built and delivered quickly.

there are thousands of trucks parked, If you live near an assembly plant you are probably seeing the same thing. |
Yep the same thing is happening now at the Camaro plant in Lansing. Just went by there a few days ago, and there were hundreds of them piled up in the lots

Did you happen to notice a Riverside Blue ZL1 with my name on it haha?

No wonder I keep getting calls to buy my 2020. I am getting seriously good offers on it, but they are not getting it :)
|
They raised my offer by 4k in the last month.

There is a real car shortage right now. It's due to the chip shortage and people coming out of Covid hibernation ready to buy anything and everything. Dealers, etc. are offering top dollar for just about any vehicle right now. Great time to sell but also a very bad time to buy. There are not enough rental cars to go around- I am reading about rental cars costing anywhere form 300 to 700 a day.
I have a 2019 Silverado I bought new almost exactly one year ago. It's worth about 6K more than I paid and going up by the day. It's most likely the same on Camaros. |
If you REALLY need a performance car right now I'd go with like a 2008 low miles corvette.
Here in FL you can get them in many cases under 40k miles. Nearly the same 0-60 time as our SS, BUT you can also slap a super charger on it and make it faster and still be cheaper than a LT1. If something were to happen to my SS right now I'd probably get like a 2005 to 2008 Vette and do some mods to it. I've seen someone with under 20k miles. Another option is the 2011 to 2014 Coyote. Also get those very cheap. Slap on a SC and it's faster than a SS. The problem with the rental cars is they sold A LOT of them last year when things were slow. Hertz with Ch11 was selling SS and Mustang GT rag tops dirt cheap. For us Florida folks these news articles failed to mention that last year here in Southwest Florida over 3,500 rental cars were lost in a massive fire at the Airport during lockdown. At southwest FL intl a huge fire broke out with 3500 cars getting totaled. No doubt this is a huge factor, at least in South FL I'm sure, and with the plants not pumping out as many cars and you can see why the shortage here in parts of FL. |
Echoing CamaroSSStlfan, if someone totaled my camaro today I’d swap to a C5 or C6.

Correct. If I didn't have a Camaro and I wanted a performance car I'd still give that 2005-2010 Corvette a serious look. For the price, under 30 grand and very low miles it's a steal. Slap a SC and good to go and faster than an SS. At least here in FL the advantage of buying even a older used Vette is that typically very low miles because old guys owned them and baby them and garage them a lot of the time. Versus buying a 2016 Mustang GT that might been ran hard by a 30 year old. |
I have to admit everything is just so weird right now...
The value of my SS increased, something I thought would never happen, but if I sell it .. .. good luck getting another one. The value of my house increased by $150k over last year, but once again if I sell it, good luck on finding another house. |

Nice ride! Btw, I think trucks regardless of automaker are extremely overpriced! I know we complain about the price of a new SS, But the MSRP of some of these trucks, especially the larger ones are just ridiculous. Some of them you can almost buy a C8 for the same price. |
Can't they just scavenge semiconductors out of any old common thing like cheap phones, tv remotes etc?
The economic forecasts are always garbage in this country...still less than a year since the "lockdown" and people deaperately need a new ride? Only in America. |
