Will I need a tune?

Will I need a tune if I install a ported IM and TB or would I be fine to drive around without one?

depends on how your car takes the ported tb.

You will be fine.

Nope. People are installing the LT2 manifolds and making great gains by the way. GPI sells them ready to bolt up for $385. Best bang for your buck mod i have seen in years.

I ran my Pray ported stock IM/TB and Rotofab setup on stock tune with no issues.

Thanks for the replies! I recently purchased a Pray Ported IM and TB from a member on here and really wanted to install the same day but thought I'd ask in case someone ran into some issues.

I know what I'll be doing this afternoon!

Can you show me some proof of people installing these intakes without tuning their cars and not getting CEL's or running lean? Not saying you're wrong, I just want to be sure before buying this. I watched the video where they did the testing. I know they didn't change the tune after installing the intake. But they installed it on a car that was already tuned to begin with. Not sure if that is why it was okay to just slap the intake on.

There are lots of dyno charts with AFR's out there. You're safe with a CAI, ported throttle body and ported IM. And some of those were with ported MSD's which outflow the LT2 at high RPM's.

What is that combo untuned worth?

I assume a bigger TB would require a tune.

Does the LT2 IM fit?

I am so out of touch!

Thanks RyanR623. Just wanted to point out I was specifically asking about the LT2 intake. I actually just ordered one. I emailed GPI and they claim I can install it on an otherwise bone stock car with a bone stock tune. Hopefully they are right haha.

It fits (sort of). GPI is selling an LT2 intake that has the required modifications to bolt it onto an LT1 powered Camaro right out of the box. Basically the intake just needs to be shaved down a little and a hole needs to be drilled for the brake booster fitting. Also need to order a MAP sensor extension.

Depends on which manifold you go with. Stock ported, LT2 ported, MSD, MSD Ported. The OEM ported TB doesn't really add much HP, but the lag at low throttle positions is gone and throttle response is improved.

Usually yes, and depending on size an adapter.

Yes it fits, with modifications. GPI sells one with the modifications already done and the MAP extension so you can just bolt right in.

It will be fine. If a ported MSD doesn't throw off AFR's, the LT2 won't. Also, the ported MSD only made 5hp more than the LT2 and costs $1200 plus port job lol

There is a section in this forum that is specifically for "bolt-on" discussion and all of this has or is currently being discussed. Power gains and Dyno charts are all in that thread.
