Build Big Brake Kit from GM Parts

Hi All,

I have a 2018 Camaro SS with the base 4 piston Brembos on the front. Rather than buy the upgrade kit from Chevy Performance, is it possible to buy the individual pieces from GM (calipers, rotors, flex brake line and pads) for a 1LE or ZL1 and install them?

Is the Master, proportioning, etc, different?

Thanks!!

Compare piston area and go from there.

Yes, but pick a system and don't mix-n-match. Either do the SS 1LE brakes, or the ZL1 brakes. Given you already have the SS rear, which is the same as the SS 1LE, just swapping the front won't mess up the intrinsic proportioning, just like the GMPP 6-piston kit. Dig up the part numbers for the SS 1LE or Cadillac ATS-V front calipers, pads, rotors, lines, and rotor shields and you'll be good-to-go at a much lower price than the GMPP kit. If you need help with that let us know.

All Camaro6's use the same master cylinder.

The ZL1 brakes use more piston area front and rear, so you'd need to swap both axles over to retain the proportioning balance. Generally I'd say there's no need to use ZL1 brakes unless you're an Advanced or Instructor Track rat, they're overkill for an SS on the street.

you can do it or look for a good deal

i found a used 1le kit without rear rotors for like $1300 didnt sound too bad to me!

Occasionally you can find someone selling the kit at a discount or used. Buying the kit will be cheaper than buying all the individual pieces new. If you want new look for a retailer that sells it like https://wildhammermotorsports.com/ca...t-performance/ Also the slotted rotors that come with the kit are not the same as the stock 1LE rotors, they are much more expensive.

Somebody listed some part numbers for 1LE front brakes before. I have not bought these so cannot vouch for it's accuracy:

rotor 23142500
rotor 23189768
caliper 84063672
caliper 84063673
hose 84237979
hose 84237978
bolt 11569590

The list did not have the backing plates or pads. These are different parts than the 6-piston kit has, the rotors are not slotted and the calipers will say 1LE instead of GM Performance from what I understand.

Great, thanks all.

Found the part number for the brake pads for the 6-piston 14.6" front brakes (GMPP kit or SS/1LE):

this is for zl1 brakes.

I have a similar list for 1le brakes but it doesn't include the bolts and various other parts.

your prices may vary, as I haven't looked them up in some time, and I'm pretty sure the place I got these from doesn't function anymore.

also, I realize after I uploaded this, the formatting was lost so it got all jumbled together, if you want the original spreadsheet, just pm me and I can send it.
