ZFR turbo swap

There were some threads on this but wasn't going to dig them up.
Stock turbo to ZFR turbo Would have took me about 5 hours, but I had an issue that delayed me. ZZP already had the replacement bolt in the mail before I broke the aluminum one that came with the kit. I had one of the originals. ZZP now supplies the steel bolt before purchase. Otherwise it was a smooth install. It spools quick, temps are good, whistles nicely, and simply sounds great. Also the outlet tube only required a 2" to 2.5" coupler to mate with the mishimoto hot side aluminum pipe . |
Got any wheel shots of that turbo? It sure is pretty!!

Not to resurrect a mostly dead thread... but directed at StPeteHyper - are you guys fearing going lean with the ZFR, stock fueling system, and 93 gas combo? Are most things seemingly under control without any concerns still over a month later?
Is this your daily driver, and if so - do you feel like driveability has gone down at all to this end post installation and tuning? I'd definitely want to push into the 370-380 range to hit stock SS rwhp figures. Just looking for some first-hand experience since you're the first person around here I see regularly posting and running one. |

- It is my daily and hell no, drivability is way up.. you would have to get over 500hp to start considering it not being a daily. People daily 600hp SS - You are pushing your luck going over 350hp/400tq on a stock block. you also don't need SS numbers to beat a SS with the weight difference. to be honest it is hard for me to compare. I went from stock tune to ZFR turbo tune. If I had the stock turbo tuned, I am not sure how much of a difference it would have been. I like the sounds and punch of it tho. A lot of people are 310-320 hp on stock turbos and run good track numbers. I haven't made it to the track yet. |
