Anyone else with this dilemma?

I bought a used 19' 2SS in crush orange and love it. I can't help but think of 23' being the final year these cars will be made. I'm stuck with the thought of:
1. Going all in on my 19' spending money on upgrades and making it a forever car.
Or
2. Driving the 19' and not upgrading much of anything and trading it for a 23' which I could go all in on.

Sounds trivial but I really don't wanna waste money on parts that are temporary. Unmolested cars garner more trade in value or $$ when you sell them.

Never wait for the next car, your health might not allow you to drive it.

It seems you should have made that decision before you bought it.

I would personally work on the car you have. I could be wrong, but I have my doubts that the Camaro will make it to 2023, and if it does, I wouldn't expect it to be any different than your current car. It seems as if GM has already thrown in the towel on the Camaro.

YOLO, so enjoy what you have.

With Big Al O at the engineering helm of GM's electric program, around 2027-2030 they'll likely do an electric gen 7 Camaro.

Mod it, save all the stock parts. ;-)

Ask all the guys who overpaid for 2002 Camaros.

You have your car now, so enjoy it today, regardless whether you mod it or not.

Yes, I'm fully anticipating this and for sure want a 6th gen in the stable as I don't know how I'll feel about an electric Camaro

I would stick with what you have and build it. You'll be happy you did. I don't anticipate the 2023 being any better looking or better performing than what you already have. I bought a slightly used 2018 over a new 19 or 20 because I like the body style more and I couldn't be happier and I don't think I'm going to regret it. Only bad thing is I have to sell my 2002 SS because of space. I may regret that down the line at some point.

Buying a 2002 SS used for $9k in 2009 wasn't too bad when I did it lol. They guy still had the window sticker and it MSRP'd at like $36k back then. What did the 98-2001 sell for new?

LT4Greg 10-15-2019 11:45 AM

black gloves, you are the one to make that decision on your 2019 SS as to mod to keep it or leave it stock and wait until the 2023 comes out to buy one! I personally would wait and maybe buy a last year since your 2019 will be 4 years old if you don’t mind having the latest and greatest Camaro! You are right in thinking you can mod yours and you never get your money back when you trade in or outright sell your car but you do what is best for you. I’m keeping my ZL1 factory original and not spending any money on mods with the exception of the drop in panel air filter that I put in several weeks ago. I have had modded cars before over the years and never got my money back when I got rid of them and spent thousands on so I’m not modding anymore. Good luck in what you decide to do but ultimately you do what’s right for you and your situation!

protovack 10-15-2019 11:56 AM

if you aren't sure, just wait. Something might happen in the next year that will tell you the answer. You don't have to decide now.
