Anyone think the 2014 refresh hurt the 2016??

... Or do you think the refresh prepared us for the evolution of the 2016??.. Because now that we have a better idea of what the 2016 looks like, it's more of a gradual transformation from 2010 to 2014 to the 6 Gen.. Another member on here said if we didn't have that refresh the 6 Gen would have been more revolutionary than evolutionary.. Thoughts??

I'm happy the 6th gen isn't a massive, revolutionary change. One of the things I didn't like about the Camaro is how no Camaro looked like the previous generation. There was no lineage to its design. If you lined up debadged gens one through four, the average person would think they weren't related at all.

Good point.. But I think the 3rd Gen transition into the 4th Gen nicely..

Its evolution either way.

That said, I think the refresh was definitely a step toward the 6th gen.

To tell you the truth I for one didn't care for the refresh but I am liking what I see so far in the 16....so go figure.

I think GM really refined the 5th gen with the 14'. But Im not sure what I see now looks better than the 14' (but we dont see much with thr camo). IMO the biggest influence should be half Stingray and half 5th gen style.

I don't see how it can hurt something that does not exist. The 2016 will sell just fine when it arrives but chevy needs to sell a car Today. Ford made the same move and it paid off, people traded up to a 2013/2014 and are now trading up again to the s550.

Mustang might be an extreme case but when the new Camro rolls out the current one is going to seem pretty damn dated.

I was the one who commented on it in the other thread so yes I do think it hurts it. Especially because the of the thinner grill and change in the tail lights that will most likely carry over to the 2016. Those things probably would've helped to give the 2016 a fresher look if the 14 refresh never happened.

I think it helps it. Releasing the 2014 refresh gave Chevrolet immediate feedback on the direction they were going. I think they'll take the wealth of input they received on 2014 (positive and negative) to refine 2016. If they do, that means that the 2016 will keep the thinner grille, won't have the chrome trim wrap around on the front, won't have the cavernous license plate area on the back and the tail lights will probably be something different as well.

GM explained why they refreshed in 14, but it appears to be a bridging effort to the 6th Generation. I'm sure the 6th will bring improvements..

Thanks..I couldnt find where I read your comment at. I kind of agree.. if there was no refresh people would have been more wowed at the 2016.. you saw a lot of comments when the padding came off about how it didnt look like a change much..

Either way its still exciting as we get ready for the 6th Gen. I bought the 2014 because of the refresh. Those RS LED tails got the wife and I hooked!!.. Maybe we get the 6th Gen when the 2012 is paid off...

Like I have said all along, this new "6 Gen" is nothing more then a 5th gen refresh. I don't even know why they are calling it a 6th gen. Lol.

Its a whole new car on a diff platform. It will be lighter and have a hell of alot better interior than the current car, something alot of people are looking towards. I sold my 2011 because I hated the shitty interior after owning it plus it was too heavy.
