1LE Front Brakes Moaning [Resolved]

Coming from drivers side front brake. It's been doing it since day 1 but I thought I just needed to bed in the brakes. I finally couldn't handle it anymore so I took it in. Anyone else have this issue?

My new car does the same thing! Usually slow speeds only... if I let off the brake quickly and then get back on them the moan stops. Very strange.

Good to know it's not just my car. I don't really see anything wrong with the brakes except that the drivers side pads seem rough on the edges where the passenger side pads have very sharply defined edges. Rotors look fine on both sides.

Mine did this a few times when I was stuck in traffic, after the cars first track day it went away though.

Mine did the exact same thing. I took it to the dealer. There is a TSB about it. It is describes as a "fog horn noise or Whale sound". The fix was supposed to be to burnish the brakes. I explained that I had already done that and followed the procedure in the manual. They insisted on doing again themselves. I went to pick it up and did it again, so I turned around and took it back. I had the service manager ride with me and it made the sound in the parking lot of the dealership. They told me they would have to call an engineer. I said that was fine, but I'm taking my car. The bulletin said there was not a performance issue, just a sound. So I went ahead and took my car to it's first tack day and used the brakes to their full potential and to my surprise...... the sound is now gone?!?! I've driven it multiple time since the track day and can't duplicate the sound anymore. So, just go use the crap out of them and break them in really good. See the bulletin attached. Not sure why the picture rotated? Maybe someone can fix it.

Bed them well, bed them HARD

Mine sometimes make a VERY loud squeaking. I haven't done any special break in procedure on them yet. I might take it to a back road and stop from 60 a few times real hard.

Thanks! I relayed the TSB to my service advisor.

Just a quick follow up. After the dealer performed the TSB, everything seems fine.

I have the exact same issue. Thank you for the info!

Apologies for digging this up, but apparently a track day fixes the brake 'moaning'. Thanks for the info

Very likely also the burnish procedure in the track prep guide.

If anyone need a volunteer to take their car on a track day to fix the brakes let me know.

ok i spoke too soon. lasted about a week after a track day with no noises whatsoever.

until today...now the only way i can stop without severe “moaning” and the car wanting to vibrate apart is wait til the last second and apply a lot of pressure. any half ass braking is making it go nuts.

to the dealer she goes :(
