Is Las Vegas overhyped?
I think so.
I’m currently on my first visit here, and I’m bored. Is there something I’m missing? I’m staying at ‘Caesar’s Palace’, and everything I seen/heard about Vegas seems to be overhyped. I’m not impressed, and I certainly have no desire to come back. |
I went there 4 or 5 times while I was living in Phoenix...
In my opinion, the only good reason to go back is if there's shows/performers you want to see. No more cheap or free breakfasts or drinks. Chances are, you're not going to win big, so save your money. |
I've been to Vegas a few times. Though I did the WSOP Main event once (out in 2 hours), I really don't gamble. Personally, I've stayed more in Reno or Pahrump (Ron Fellows Performance Driving School). I like driving around the Red Rock canyon area west of Vegas as well. To me, the strip is boring. I'm not a drinker, so that kind of night life was never appealing to me.

Personally Im not a gambler and that is pretty much what is overthere. I would rather spend money on my car. My luck I would lose everything I went with. When I did drive through there it looked filthy and ovef crowded.

It is a little over-hyped. I actually preferred Fremont St (the old strip) over the new strip. The new strip has mega casinos and to get to the next casino you almost need a cab where Fremont St has the ability to walk in and out of casinos as you please. It definitely isn't the same as it's "hay day", but it is still fun.
If you haven't go and check out the Gold and Silver pawn shop, it's smaller than it seems on TV, but still fun. Also, go check out Count's Kustoms and the neon grave yard. While I was there with work my boss got us on an off road tour which was pretty awesome. We got to drive 4 wheelers, dirt bikes, or Razr side by sides through the desert. I got the Razr up to 60 mph and air born MANY times. That was a blast! |
I grew up, til 13 anyway, in Vegas and it's boring AF everytime I've been back, it's almost unrecognizable but besides that I just go to get away and do something outdoorsy, off the strip. Tour Las Vegas MotorSpeedway, Hoover Dam, there's plenty of outdoorsy shit to see and do. On the strip as mentioned nothing is cheap any more, used to be cheap buffet style food but no mas. I don't recommend people go there for the whole strip experience.

Never been, but all I've seen of Vegas reminds me of living here in Orlando. If you aren't into all the tourist-y stuff you're going to be bored as hell.

Dad was part owner of a hotel / casino years ago. Spent many summers in Vegas as a kid. Best part was walking the catwalks above the casino floors and helping Maintenance work on slot machines - Id unjam them and take all the coins they let me keep and run over to Circus Circus (when it was fun)... Now, its just a dirty city (literally)... Bands are always good on Freemont, and we only go for the shows anyway...

Vegas has everything from awesome pool parties stocked with gorgeous people to clubs to bars to great restaurants to entertainment destinations and supercar rentals (and an on-track experience less than 2 miles from the strip) plus golf and basically everything else to do.
If you can't have fun in Vegas, it's unlikely you know how to. |
Vegas is very over hyped and the slots are rigged. Save your money.

To be honest everything in bold sounds awful to me. |
I'm thinking of going there just to get away and spend some time in a nice resort with good restaurants and a pool for the kid.
Maybe a family friendly show or two. Oh, and I might sneak away and play some blackjack when the wife's not looking. |
