Challenger 1320 vs Mustang GT vs Camaro SS

We have a new competitor in the mix. The Challenger 1320. Seats are optional and Dodge is claiming the 1320 will run 11.7 and the extra seats are optional. And it comes with the Dodge drag racing goodies. Man Dodge sure knows how to leverage this old hoss for maximum play. $46K + seats.

This looks interesting. Of course, I prefer the Hellcat or Redeye. But you can't argue how impressive this car will be.

On every forum you hear from drag racers asking for a purpose built and lightweight drag racing option... finally someone is listening.

I thought the GTs were doing low mid 10s all bone stock with boost, meth, slicks, LTs, gutted interior...

No, GT's with Boost, slicks and 4100lb race weights run in the 9's these days....and the drivers might use meth , but the cars don't because they don't come with a DI only fuel system.

Ah ok. That's impressive for a completely bone stock GT with nothing except boost, slicks and 4100lb race weights to run in the 9's just like any other V8 Muscle/Pony car with those same mods would do...the fact that a Mustang can do it just like everything else out there is extremely impressive.

I think it's a cool package and cool that Dodge is offering it for the 1/4 crowd. They know they don't have a corner carver, so make a straightline package.

They don't need a corner carver, their Challenger sales are just fine :). A street/strip focus to track would likely hurt the present sales.

Ok so you’re agreeing with me, 9’s not 10’s for the GT...cool, however it seems the Camaro needs more mods to get there looking over the fast list. Internal mods or a converter.... funny the torque monster needs the converter and the gutless wonder doesn’t.

My car would be #4 on the C6G fast list... with less mods...on 93 no crank and it did it almost 4yrs ago so welcome to the party.

I'm with you guys on the Coyote is faster with less than the Camaro. My buddies full weight 2017 base GT auto has run a 10.304@137 with a Slightly over pullied Paxton, tune, injectors, and DRs with a 1.7 60' at Atco. He now has added a convertor and he is getting used to it. He has also taken the extra seats out. Will he touch the 9s this fall? Maybe.

But back to the 1320 Dodge. What would it take to get this NA car that weighs as much as a mid size suv into the 9s? And I hear the 392s are delicate.

No. I'm not agreeing with you. I've seen way too many examples over the years of people lying about their mods, hiding mods, not fully disclosing their mods, conveniently forgetting to mention certain mods, etc, especially from the Mustang crowd, to ever believe a Mustang with similar mods is faster than a Camaro. From what I've seen at the track, Mustangs with similar mods have been running the exact same or similar times as Camaros.

Your car is not a Camaro so it wouldn't even be on the list.
