New Camaro ... Less than 200km on it and I opened the hood this morning to see this?

Anyone else experienced this?

Seems to be right where the hot bar crosses the engine ... It's the only spot in the car that has it ...that's possible, but it appears to be more like heat damage.

i have a black one on my car no issues here but who knows! did you leave it open at a car show or something?

I’m with VinnAY. That material was pulled apart.

Thats fiberglass, if heat did that then the engine covers would have melted... along with the intake, wiring, etc. No way heat did that.

I haven't had it that long ... I've only had it home over night once, and in my possession for less than 16 hours total.

That is definitely wild life. Some thing was trying to dig a hole into the padding

Mice.
Had one in my car first time I parked it inside, and the little turd got into the cabin air intake.
Removed the filter, couldn't find him. But one day there was a terrible odor of dead mouse.
Deer mice seem to be the usual offender.

I also had the strut tower brace ordered as an option. My hood looks fine. I also think some rodent did that.

Rodents. For sure.

torqueaddict 08-13-2018 07:21 PM

There's nothing in that engine bay to cause that kind of damage without other evidence. Like others suggested, it's more likely that something (alive) was pulling at it.

Definitely 'cause of some critter

dpevans 08-13-2018 07:34 PM

I would be doing a check of all the wiring under the hood. They love chewing on exposed wiring.
