vaccuum bypass switch

so I am running eforce 2300

but I think most p/d use some form of vacuum bypass right now (could be wrong)

how can u test if its working as designed..

in the directions it says not to move or adjust but I had to because it was almost touching belt I mean like really close, I looked a the pictures in the directions and looks like it should face straight out.

it definitely works I just don't know if its as designed, sometimes I notice the switch over and its a little annoying..

I drove wifes car yesterday and think I may have an issue to..

What are the signs you are getting? I'm thinking I have a Bypass issue to.. These problem just started out of the Blue!

I noticed that the cars idle wants to hang sometime especially with rev match.

I noticed that the car feels like a turbo "turbo lag" it has power then all the sudden hang on!

Feels really touchy!

Wants to coast a lot

What are you experiencing?

biker2k 11-25-2019 07:19 AM

I get like a slipping feeling (m6 by the way) like its lost between open and closed for a second and then it kicks in (clearly not slipping but best way to describe it)

KingLT1 11-25-2019 07:42 AM

Have you logged MAP kpa when this is happening?

Exactly.. my tuner thought it was another shops tune or even the shops tune ontop of the can tune because he saw the TB opening late. But I think it's the bypass aswell..

I'm gonna contact my buddies at Edelbrock.

love to hear what they say

no because it doesn't always happen, I haven't locked down an exact scenario where I can replicate it..

I am not on canned tune, tune was done by ted at janetty on the dyno so I don't think the problem is in the tune, but who knows

does anyone else have any issues with the vacuum bypass on other brands or is this an edlebrock 2300 specific issue

edf hobbies, did it not used to do it and now it does if so what changed..

EDFHOBBIES 11-25-2019 09:07 AM

It's always felt similar to a turbo or lag like it had a lot power then bam it really hits hard or like something is slipping then it catches and power comes on hard.

That reason and I gave wife my lt4 fuel system to make more power is what changed..

My tuner thought it was the tune causing the turbo feel the TB wasn't opening full till 4500 rpms it seemed like he fixed the turbo problem but the throttle hanging developed and now about 6 mos later the throttle is hanging sometimes.

Talked to my buddy at Edelbrock, you can pull off the vacuum line to it. Make sure it stays open. When you release the vacuum it should shut automatically.

If the butterfly valve is sticking it could be hanging in the bore.

bypass stuck open can cause surging and High IATs could also damage rotors so if its the bypass malfunctioning get it sent in for R and R.

biker2k 11-25-2019 01:57 PM

I’ve done that and it seems to work
But what about slipping feeling
What did he say
And does that mean that any vaccum will trigger switch or does it have to hit a certain threshold

EDFHOBBIES 11-27-2019 10:08 AM

I feel like an idiot! I went over to pick up my car from the tuner and we took wifes car.. told him to drive it make sure it was all good told him it felt like a turbo and something slipping then catches..

turned out to be the traction control system... He said just hit that button.. sure enough no more lag feeling! I thought the IATs or something on the blower shaft was slipping then catching.. 130 iats never moving they were good 615 rwhp and 666 TQ same dyno that mine made 1004..

still need to track down the the hanging idle that happens every now and then!

biker2k 11-27-2019 02:00 PM

ill experiment with that
thanx

side note I've wondered if there is a way to load the zl1 traction/stability control settings over my 1le configurations..

Hey guys,
My first post here, I post on the CorvetteForum mostly. So Ive been having an issue with my C7 Corvette LT1 with the Edelbrock E force. The car had made 541whp in a dynamite Dyno. I’m now running a mix of 93 octane with BOOSTANE, so 102 octane. I put it on a dynojet since and I’m way down on power, 468whp. It looks to be iat related so I installed a Cordes HX and additional reservoir. I did some data logs and IATs are +50*f at cruise and +80*f after a 40-140mph pull(over ambient). It won’t take anymore then 15* timing at WOT as the AFR is 12.5-12.8. Last week I pulled off the blower and found the bypass vacuum line crushed 100% closed between the rotors and a bolt in the valley. I believe this would keep the bypass always closed and always in boost. I think this would also super heat the blower being it’s always in boost. I have to data log soon but what do you guys think?? Thanks

Mods. Stage 2 E force, GM CAI, 95mm TB, cat delete, Borla X pipe. (Texas Speed 1 7/8 catless header going on next month)

That's exactly right it would create enormous heat if it was stuck closed.

Did you notice any other wierd things like a hanging idle every now and then?
