2019 Camaro Tow Hook Install?
I bought a 2019 2SS on Wednesday and I would like to install tow hook license plate holder that zl1 addons sells but I couldn't figure out how to remove that little part of the grill like shown in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bDeeRO30rk
Does anybody know how to do it? Here is a picture of the grill. I don't see any way to remove it. https://i.imgur.com/VhGnGzD.jpg |

Pull / pry down from the top, just under the solid black part of grill. you will see a small pry slot if you need it but i can get mine with just fingers.

I checked the grill again but I couldn't find any small pry slot and I am a little afraid to pry/pull down from top.
While I was looking around I found this little tab in the grill. Could this be the spot I am looking for? https://i.imgur.com/7aJMdxe.jpg |

I'm getting this - and the license plate holder!

Did the guy in the video install that bracket upside down, I'm not seeing how this looks any better.

When we retire and move to a free state that doesn't require the front plate we can easily switch to the tow hook. |
The front plate frame that came on my car does not drill into the bumper but rather holds on with clamps.
If you remove it, no damage or marks. |
Actually write a ticket for no front plate? Good grief...I mean I can see it being a PC stop if you're suspicious but talk about all the other crap going on that needs LE attention...

My dealer tossed it into the trunk to let me decide, I attached it with wire ties to get through inspection and then removed it. I don't see why wire ties couldn't be a permanent solution, they held well. I carry it around in the trunk and plan on talking my way out if it becomes necessary, so far no one has given a crap.

If anyone was wondering, the zl1 addon license holder fits on the 2019 ss, just put mine on a few minutes ago.
Tip, when releasing the 1st clip, you want to pull up on the plastic piece of bumper. (the tow hook cover doesn't have much play up there) Once you release the 1st clip, you then release the 2nd one which is super easy. After the 2nd one is released, the side fins will slide out to the left. I took some pictures just in case. Send me a pm or I can post them in this thread if anyone is interested. |
