P0711 Trans Temp Sensor
Just got this today...any idea if it would be safe to drive for a bit or should it go straight to shop?

My Truck with an 8L90 trans has been throughing a 711Code for 3 Years, Reset the CEL and DRIVE IT!!!!! If it comes back, Have the Dealer check it!!!
|
It is fine to drive, it may require a new harness to fix properly. Last I saw it is a $1k repair bill to have the harness replaced.

Damn. Not what I wanted to hear at Christmas 1000 miles over warranty...I was hoping for around 500...

I hope so, couldnt get appt until Thurs though, so will just have to wait and see...however I am tuned so they might not like that lol.

The harness and temp sensor may fall under the 5yr/60k mile warranty, especially since it is inside of the transmission pan.
|
Unfortunately I'm at about 62K...

I had the same issue around the same time last year. Took almost 2 weeks to get my car back. Dealership didn't realize that they had ordered the wrong part until car was on the lift and transmission pan had been removed.

I am still under powertrain warranty and dealer won't fix the trans electrical issue

Talk to your dealership and see what they can do. I just had this issue fixed last week for $550 at my local dealership. My car is tuned and told them up front not to recal or reset the ECU or TCM and did a great job. The wiring harness is less than $100 but they have to drop the pan and refill with fluid. Good luck:)
