gasoline and LT1 option
Where I am we have 87,89, and 93 octane. What octane for daily use in the v-8 ?
Also, does anyone know if the cold air intake option is offered on the 2020 LT1 package ? Thanks. |
93 always. I can’t imagine GM wouldn’t option the CAI as it’s the same engine as the last 5 years of production.

I only run 93 octane in my car. Lowest you can go is 91 due to the high compression ratio in the LT1 motor.
|
Performance Air Intake will be available for LT1, 1SS and 2SS but it is late availability. Not available for order yet for 2020 models.
|
GM recommends 91+, but the car can run on regular.
I run 91/93 in mine, but you can bet that most of the Camaro SS's that you see in rental car fleets run on regular most of the time |
Absolutely 93 only. I would drive to another gas station before I put anything less than 91 in my car.
|
91 minimum. It actually likes more than 91/93.
|
As a side note I also stick with top tier gasoline brands only. For me these are places like QT, Exxon, Shell, Costco etc. I avoid Racetrac, 7-11 Gas, Wal-Mart/Sam's (Murphy USA) etc.

Runs perf fine on 87, never saw a diff from 91.
|
It is factory tuned on 93 which is not available everywhere. 91 is good but 87 would be bad. Another reason why this is not my DD.

93 plus a splash of E85 :thumb:
If you had a tool that could read ECU parameters, you would see quite a bit of timing retard and knock if you used 87. It most CERTAINLY makes a difference, you may just not be able to notice it. |

Sorry but do you really think that you know where this gas is actually coming from. Don’t be silly! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
