I decided I can glean enough information from existing camo shots to craft a rough 3D model. Keep in mind that I am using my own interpretation of the camo shots.

As usual, I start with the front clip. Please excuse the Mustang wheels, as they are all I have at the moment. If you love it, hate it, or somewhere in between, at least join the discussion. If you have any insider info, PM me.

Let's get this started.

chazcron 11-13-2014 03:54 PM

Man, thanks, Denver, 23 views and you were the only one to tell me my attachments didn't stick

yenkoman 11-13-2014 04:57 PM

nice work chaz. i got some camaro wheels in dae or 3ds format that i could give you if you would like them

chazcron 11-13-2014 05:00 PM

I model in Animation Master, wihich has a proprietary format. I think it can translate 3DS files, but not very well. May be worth a try. PM me.

Still not seeing the whole car :iono:

chazcron 11-13-2014 06:42 PM

WIP, for those who don't know, means "work in progress" Hence only the front clip, hood (incomplete) and tires so far.

yenkoman 11-13-2014 06:52 PM

still looking gr8 chaz

chazcron 11-13-2014 06:53 PM

Thx Yenk.

2cnd chance 11-13-2014 06:59 PM

Cool stuff!

chewy8 11-13-2014 07:30 PM

looks cool

yenkoman 11-13-2014 08:20 PM

no prob chaz cant wait for the finished product

Dexman1349 11-14-2014 11:29 AM

Awesome work. Hood lines don't really look that much different than the 2014/2015's. Maybe I just need to wait for the rest of the model to be completed.

Good work so far though.

hypercarfanatic 11-14-2014 11:53 AM

Well, make it FWD, and you have a fine car there!

Lol good work chaz - we all appreciate it

chazcron 11-14-2014 02:21 PM

Here's my first 3D speculative movie of the front clip of the 2016 Camaro.

loving the progress chaz. this thread reminds me of the early stages of the mustang6g thread with your renders

nighttowl 11-14-2014 07:28 PM

Just wait; as soon as you finish it, the big reveal will come out!

I may not even finish it. Last year, I'd already finished the Mustang.

We'll see.

z928 11-15-2014 05:08 PM

Thanks, Z928, but I wouldn't say always.

Updated hood renders:

yenkoman 11-15-2014 08:11 PM

Windshield and A pillar. (They were faked in the last two renders)

z928 11-16-2014 09:46 PM

wow-- really look like the transformer 4 car

yenkoman 11-16-2014 10:27 PM

was just beginning to notice that. got a question chaz why do you always use red for the model? I remember in the beginning of the mustang you started with red as well.

Hood scoops shapes added (vents faked)

It's really tough to match the camera angles, but vital for the 3D model to be as accurate as possible. I spent more time today moving the camera to match the distance, angle and focal length and it still isn't a perfect match.

DanSS24 11-17-2014 01:58 AM

I really like and understand what you are trying to do here. I just wish I had your talent. Great work.

Autonaut 11-17-2014 02:31 AM

Respect..

Great work. Inappreciate it

chazcron 11-17-2014 05:50 AM

Thanks guys. Yenko, I use red because it is a standout color for a sports car. It stays red initially for visual consistently. Once I've wrapped around all the sheet metal, I'll start to car it.

yenkoman 11-17-2014 08:27 AM

ah ok makes sense thanks for that little bit of info chaz

Hood vent now modeled. Real vents will OF COURSE look 1000x better than this clumsy placeholder.

PrimeraRS 11-17-2014 01:26 PM

If you don't mind what CAD program do you use?

chazcron 11-17-2014 01:28 PM

It's called Animation Master.

Bhobbs 11-17-2014 02:39 PM

Chaz, if you don't make a living doing this, you should. It's awesome work.

68vert 11-20-2014 03:06 PM
