Car Crash

Hello folks, last Friday I was involved in a crash on the motorway.

The guy was obviously going too fast and smashed into the back of me.

Whats everyones opinions on the damage caused?

I'm still waiting for the bodyshop to pick the car up.

Over here in the UK our cars are classed as written off if theres over 60-70% of the cars value damaged.

With it being one of only 9 cars in the UK I would be absolutely devastated.

OUCH! So sorry! It looks repairable to me. I hope that you're ok...

Thanks mate, I'm fine. I was more worried about the car than myself!

You're welcome! Cars are repairable/replaceable... you're not.

That sucks so bad... and how cool it is to have a Fifty car over in the UK.

Hope you get it fixed up right.

Cheers mate, I think it's going to the insurers garage which they recommended, but that's fully booked till 2021, I'll ring them tomorrow to see if I can sort something.

You are allowed to choose your own repair shop anyway so shouldn’t be a problem

arpad_m 10-28-2020 05:33 PM

This looks repairable to my amateur eyes, definitely not a total loss, especially if the shop confirms there is no frame damage. There are probably extremely few F1FTY Camaros across the pond, it would be a damn shame to lose one.

Sucks big time and (unfortunately) I know how it feels... but perhaps it was you being too slow and not the other guy too fast? :laughabove: (sorry, I just couldn't resist, one wrecked Camaro owner to another ;))

Hope it’s not a total but depends on the repair costs but doesn’t look that way to me! Good luck!

I guess being in the UK, a wreck does raise big concerns when it comes to the feasibility of replacing the car if you have to. Super sorry to hear though. BTW is this an SS model? Someone will have to correct me if I'm stupid, I thought the LT1 engine was banned in the UK / Europe?

NYblack1le 10-28-2020 08:36 PM

Try to see if they can replace the quarter. trying to save that one might give you some headaches in the future. make sure you are using somebody with some talent.

I was rear ended a few years back and what I thought was going to be easily fixable was totaled once insurance reviewed it. Frame was buckled and that was it. Such a sad day. Wasn't a Camaro, but still. That looks pretty bad compared to what was written off for me, hopefully you have better luck considering. Since only one corner got it (vs direct rear hit in my case), hopefully it will be OK. Glad you are not injured, though!
