2016 Camaros spied running with 5th gen Camaro!
Our spies have captured some 2016 Camaro prototypes running with the current model, giving us our first real-world chance to compare Camaros riding on the new Alpha architecture versus the current Camaro and its Zeta-based architecture.
While a photographic encounter with a group of prototypes hell-bent on evading the lens doesn't necessarily lead to a scientific study of cars' dimensions and proportions, we do come away with some impressions that next-gen Camaro will see some subtle downsizing over the current model. We'll leave you to your own impressions of what the photos suggest, as to the overall effect that the Alpha architecture will have on the 2016 Camaro's dimensions and curb weight. The large Camaro contingent consisted of several prototypes, both with quad- and dual-exhaust set-ups, suggesting a mix of V6- and V8-powered prototypes. Once again, our photographers were struck by the proper muscle car sound of the prototypes as they tore past their lens. The new frontal shots give some new clues to the new Camaro's front-end design, along with a glimpse of some LED light strips in the prototypes' front bumpers. |
Missed one of the signs blocking our where they were taken........LOL
Along M-59 in near the proving grounds I suspect. Interesting thou. |
When there aren't any Earth-shattering changes, some people may freak out that were expecting more of a change. :iono:

Sweet! I love seeing more photos coming in!

Thanks for the pics. My interest for this new model is starting to ramp up!

It's too early to say with these photos but it wouldn't shock me if it doesnt change TOO much. Don't fix what isn't broken? :iono: |
It sort of looks like the low and high beams may be run on separate bulbs that look like completely different housings altogether. Also looks like the grille shows through a couple pics and is similar to the 2014 but separated in the middle...
Could be completely different |
Interesting, can't really tell much on the test mules. The part of the front bumper that you can see through under the camo looks a little weird. Really narrow at the top..
|
I'm surprised they don't take video of these things.
Is that the muffler hanging between the exhaust pipes? |
Ready for this car.
|
I see a special muffler on the #6 car.... turbo 4-cylinder model testing?
|
Man that rear windoe really sits inside the padding like 6" or so. I still think the front looks like a gen3/4 mashup
|
Looks about 2" lower and narrower, hopefully it will keep the same proportions as the C5. Looks like they are using the same tires used on the 1LE. I am expecting a fairly significant change in the styling but also maintaining the character of a Camaro. Still no way to tell what it looks like until more of the camo comes off.

I spy Impala-like day lamps. :)
