Manual transmission change time and cost

How often are you changing the manual transmission fluid? Per the manual recommended 45,000 or sooner and how much does this run ? Car hasnít been tracked, just daily driven spiritedly.

Thank you

I have no access to service billing standard, but from looking at the service manual instructions I'd guess they'd bill 1-2 hrs. A competent/experienced mechanic should be able to do the entire thing in 30 mins or less keys-to-cash including running the car in neutral 2 mins after initial fill and then adjusting fluid to the correct level.

Easy enough to do yourself with 4 jack stands, barely more effort vs. a standard engine oil change. 20 ft-lbs on both plugs. If your drain plug is also the temp sensor (MJK, MM6), don't forget the sealant (12346004).

i just did mine for the first time last year 30k and 5 year dont drive the car much more on track than on the streets shifter felt a little better but never had any problems ended up going with oem gm fluids

I would change the fluid more often if it were me, at least every 10K miles.

The GM fluid does last a while but manual trans fluid can lose its properties way before the recommended change interval. And it will still look bright red but you can feel instantly the difference with fresh fluid.

I have the same transmission in my 2011 Corvette Grand Sport and the cost is really minimal as it only takes about 3 quarts and I do it myself.

I have used the OEM GM trans fluid which is very good.

Amsoil Torque Drive is the best fluid I have used (I've used Royal Purple, RedLine, and OEM GM). The Amsoil is smoother shifting than the OEM fluid and has much better cold weather shifting properties.

I had the dealership (someone I trust from there) do the trans and rear diff. It was around 300 bucks for both. I supplied my own trans fluid but not the rear diff fluid.

i change the trans & dif fluid every spring. not a dd.
