NO MO CLUNK IN MY TRUNK. FIXED!!

It’s been a few weeks now since a noticeable clunk in the rear passenger side decided to annoy the crap out of me. I noticed it usually when going over uneven roads or driveway entrances or a random pothole. Since I have a bad back, I had a buddy of mine check underneath for loose bolts, screw, etc. Nothing was found.

We decided to concentrate our search primarily on the passenger rear area as that is where we believe the clunk originates from. Our snooping around paid off as we were able to locate this black box just above the passenger side tailpipe. Its loose enough that when shaken by hand it hits on the surrounding sheet metal to make that distinctive clunk. (I don’t really know what this box is, but if someone knows what it is please feel free to chime in.) Since there’s no visible way of tightening this box, we settled for a quick fix using a pliable foam stuffed between one side of that box and the metal it hits on to cushion it. I hope this helps quickly remedy that annoying clunk in the trunk sound driving some of us mad.

Pictures below show the location of that box and foam used to silence the clunk:

Hmmm you got me on this one.

Take it to the dealer and they can look up where this is supposed to be secured.

Thanks mlee. I will definitely be taking it in to service and have them tighten it correctly. This is surely just a temporary fix. At least I now know where that PIA clunk is coming from so I can show them lol.

Definitely going to check mine. I have a clunk but might be my air pump.

It’s definitely worth a look. It was driving me nuts. I’ve been driving around “clunk free” for the past few days now. :thumb:
