GM to drop Chevrolet brand in Europe!!

Woo hoooo! Only the corvette will be sent to Europe from now on.
So I guess the refresh failed and now maybe they can do away with the euro-influence and get back to building the Camaro with an American muscle look.
There is now hope for the 6 th Gen. Woo hoo

You re-read it "all Chevrolet except corvette "

I am sure it's about trying to increase sales of Opels and Vauxhaulls, since both have been losing tons of money in Europe. Taking Chevy out of the picture will hopefully increase their market share.

Not all:

Quote:

GM (GM, Fortune 500) also said it will "tailor its presence to offering select iconic vehicles -- such as the Corvette -- in Western and Eastern Europe, and will continue to have a broad presence in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States."
Sounds like the lower end vehicles....

Chevrolet, the fourth-largest global automotive brand, will instead tailor its presence to offering select iconic vehicles – such as the Corvette – in Western and Eastern Europe, and will continue to have a broad presence in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
NOWHERE does it say Camaro is being dropped in Europe, in fact it's more than likely one of those "select iconic vehicles" that will remain on sale.

Actually, if you're going to quote their statement accurately it says',"General Motors will pull most of its Chevrolet brands from the European market - except for the Corvette" and goes on to say [it will] "tailor its presence to offering select iconic vehicles -- such as the Corvette -- in Western and Eastern Europe..."

I think the second quote leaves the chance of continuing supplying Camaros to Europe, a possibility. Camaros may well fit into the category of "select iconic vehicles".

Regrettably, this is confirmed by Left Lane News.

On the sales side, this makes sense. There's Vauxhall, Opel, and Holden selling vehicles similar to Chevrolet internationally. It really doesn't make sense for a failing brand over there to continue when there's a ready replacement already present.

It's been confirmed straight from GM as well. http://media.gm.com/content/media/us...vy-europe.html

Not to worry...if anybody in Europe wants a Daewoo or other South Korean make bad enough, all they gotta do is hop over to Russia or the Ukraine and snatch one up..lol...
