7 inch to 8 inch MyLink screen upgrade

I just got a 1lt a couple of months ago and I rode in a friends 2lt the other day, and I loved the 8 inch display and the digital gauge cluster. I have already seen a post on here about someone swapping out the gauge cluster and having to send it off to get it programed to the right vin, but I haven´t heard of anyone swapping out the screens... is it even possible? Is anyone currently trying to figure this out? I would love to upgrade my screen and cluster, but I don´t want to get one without the other. Any help would be appreciated!!!

Unless Gen5DIY has come up with something very recently, no one has managed to get the head unit to swap. You’d be looking at not just the screen but all the stuff behind the scenes that ties into basically every function of the car.

It would probably end up being ridiculously pricey to do if anyone ever figures it out then.

Don't forget the HMI module under the passenger side dash kick panel. Gen5Diy has a kit for the IO6 module... $1K... but you have to have the 8" screen.

I actually spoke w gen 5 diy today. I was asking if they were going to offer a PDR retrofit kit. They said yes but only after they complete the 7”” to 8”” swap kit. Which would be required of one wanted PDR and only had 7” screen. They said they have been working on it for months and it’s been a pain. But he sounded confident they would figure it out soon.

Ok....stupid question, but what is PDR?

Kind of new to all this high tech stuff......I'm just a simple caveman.

Something you really don't need unless you are tracking the car.

I change my 7' screen to a 8' inch

I have a 2017 Camaro 1lt v6. Change your screen from 7' to 8' can be hard depending on how far you want to go. I want the full future of the 2lt, so I had a choice to trade my car in for 2lt or challenge my self. So I did, I have everything that the 2lt has except for the heads up. I don't really care about the heads up plus I think its more distracting. I have the LED trims on the door and on top 8' screen, PDR upgrades IO6, back up seniors and more, and more. Right now I'm in the process of making a video and post it on youtube.

It's possible currently, no simple 'buy one and have it all'

You can try contacting Gen5DIY or WhiteAutoMedia and Services about parts and programming plus prices.

The minimum needed is the 8" radio, HMI, dash wiring and programming for it all. Not sure if 2020 is possible from them yet as its still new.

I did see another post on the technical forums a few months ago where someone in a 2016 upgraded both their radio and cluster to the 2019+ version, his pictures involved a great number of wires and he said he had a GM tech friend who programmed it all.

Ok, my people, I need to know if it is possible to install an 8 "radio, since I have a 1LT RS 2018 V6 and if it is possible to install.

Anything is possible. You just need the right information. You'll need at a minimum the proper HMI module I05/I06 (I say go for I06 with Nav). Have it programmed. Get the screen. And then.... the fun..... WIRING! There most likely is a difference in wiring from the HMI to the screen.
