Engine oil gurus- 5W-30 Dexos choice

Is there a reason I should chose Valvoline vs Pennzoil?

Then there's Castrol as well

On the cheap end, Walmart Super Tech 5W-30 is Dexos as is Costco's branded oil. I've been running Valvoline 5W-30 for a while, just wondering if I've made a good choice. Thanks for any helpful advice from you oil analysis guys.

I've always just gone with whatever is cheapest at the time from the bigger name brands. As long as its the proper weight and full synthetic, I personally think the differences are negligible. I wouldn't run Super Tech or the Costco brand though. But again, thats just my personal preference.

I'm kind of in the same opinion. I used to be able to tell the difference in oils in my 1990 Civic SI back in 90-93. It would rev differently and sound different depending on oil brand. It seemed to like Castrol GTX the best. These engines are obviously entirely different beasts. Definitely a good deal on the Valvoline. I think I did see Mobil 1 5W-30 Dexos 1 at Walmart for $22 today.

I do believe I'm gonna try the Pennzoil Euro L next change as I've read a ton of fantastic reviews on it.

Has anybody tried or using this Driven racing oil 5-30wt "DI30" for street use?

They also make 0-40wt "DI40 oil".

Your signature says you're driving a 2020 Camaro 1SS 1LE. If you're worried about the drivetrain warranty then the Owner's Manual recommends 0W-40 dexos2 oil. If it isn't available then 5W-30 dexos1 full synthetic can be used. Either way Valvoline recently reformulated their oils and lost their dexos rating so it wouldn't be my first choice. As long as you use a recommended oil you should be fine. Be sure to keep your receipts as proof that you are changing the oil and filter. I have a friend that had a drivetrain failure and GM wouldn't authorize the warranty replacement without proof that he was performing the recommended maintenance.

I have left over 5w30 Valvoline MST, but I normally have the dealer do it while under warranty. I bring my oil and filters though.

It sounds like you have your bases covered.
