Dale Jarrett Racing at Talladega Superspeedway

For an awesome Christmas present, my wife bought me six hot laps around Talladega with Dale Jarrett racing. Went this weekend and had a blast the entire time! I never realized how difficult it is to get up to speed in Sprint cars, the only thing you have to reference is the Tachometer so you never know your speed until after the event is over. If anyone ever has the opportunity I highly suggest this! This is the only racing school that you can actually pass other drivers!

Wow! Very cool. So how fast did you go?

That's awesome! My wife got me 20 laps there last year for my birthday! It was scary at first, but an amazing experience! Glad you got to do it!

I thought this thread was about Dale Jarrett coming out of retirement. :)
Looks like an awesome time.

Unfortunately I was only able to get to to a top speed of 149 MPH. I couldn't tell how fast I was going until afterwards bc they only look at the tachometer, all I can say is that it sure felt a hell of a lot faster than 149. My instructor didn't really tell me to speed up or slow down, rather just maintain my speed....BUT i got bored toward the end and started to punch it more after each lap. Great experience though!

She originally bought six laps, but the instructor gave me an extra lap because the GoPro camera they used didn't start until half a lap in so I got some extra seat time. I was scared out of my mind going into the first turn at ~100 MPH, but I was surprised when the car basically drove itself through the turn thanks to the speed.
Would definitely like to do it again, maybe getting up to 20 laps or so, I quickly lost track what lap I was on after the 2nd lap because I was so focused on maintaining my line in all the turns.

Sure would be nice if he did!

With the banking on the turns does it feel like all of your weight is on the drivers door at first? That would be weird to me.

There was a lot of lateral G's that came in to play with the 33 degree bank. It felt like someone was pushing my shoulders down during the turns. I did 8.6 G's when I flew with the F-16 so I was prepared but never a lateral G.
It was definitely weird being pushed right while trying to maintain a steady turn left.

I did the Drive tech school at the California speedway. They also let you pass on track! Which was good, I passed this lady 3 times in a 10 lap session. I swear to you this lady passed me at 70mph on the freeway getting to the school. Once she hit the track she forgot which pedal to go??? Awesome experience every race fan should try once in there lifetime! My instructor kept telling me to get off the rev limiter. I want more, more, more. At 150mph was like just stab and steer.
