18' M6 lt2 intake and rotofab, how to get a better 60' on stock tire
1 Attachment(s)
Hey there, I have a 2018 Camaro SS with an M6. It has a lt2 intake and lt5 throttle with the lt2 neck ported out with rotofab, that is all.
I could NOT get better than 2.15 on a well prepped track on the stock 275 35s. Has anyone gotten a better 60 on the stock tire size? Maybe I was chasing the impossible. |
What tire pressure are you running and how long of a burnout are you doing? The m6 cars are real hard to launch. I'm consistent 2.2's on mine but the a10's I've run against were doing 1.8's.

I went to 20 psi, tires were hot and sticky. Could not launch the car but at idle only and not spin |
i've managed 1.9x or quicker on street tires with several m6 cars. lower tire pressure is a good start but doing a burnout on street tires is not. i always went around the water box and simply cleaned the tires off via a few quick revolutions. street tires don't get hot & sticky, they get hot and break apart.

Lower fully heated tire to 25PSI or lower, back into the water, pull out of the water , do a standing still burn out till you start to see decent smoke and then let it roll up to the stage area. If you are wondering about lowering the tire pressure, set the tire pressure before you get to the lanes or while you are in the lanes to 23PSI, your burnout will help PSI go up a degree or two. Hope you have already removed your front sway bar, try making a pass with a full tank of gas for weight over the rear wheels, slip the clutch out of the hole while maintaining 2 to 2500 RPM when you feel the bite, floor it and get off the clutch same time.
I have gotten many 2.0 and a few 1.98 60 ft times on Camaro and C7 Corvettes with manual transmissions and OE tires |
man after looking at it, those numbers are a little sus. the slip doesn't add up at all for the other lane unless there were shenanigans.
not to mention that car easily being down 4-5 mph for the mods. do you have a dragy? record a pass at that track and compare the data. on a bad pass where the car spun A LOT, my 18 ss 1LE went 90 in the 1/8 and still managed to go to 124 in the 1/4. |

If you read some of the fast list entries from back in 2016~2017, you might get some clues on techniques to try. As I recall, one of the quicker guys back then said that he used the launch control to set the 4000rpm launch rpm, but he engaged the clutch himself instead of just dumping it and relying on the launch control feature. |

You have a LT2 intake manifold ant it has been ported at the snout for a 95 mm TB, Rotofab CAI, a 95 mm TB, it should be trapping 2 MPH more that stock imo |

Quicker because I did not spin at all, but only 1 MPH faster |

Stock 22 /1SS A10 ,17 psi run flats, could of done a little more burnout , I was impressed , considering what I had to do to run low 12s with my 68 Camaro . Wayyy back in 1982

also i was trying to draw attention to the timeslip. the other lane picks up 13 mph out the back? looks like they let out or missed a shift? look at the 1/8 et and trap differences. |
