Excited for my upcoming track days!

Going to be ordering/buying a Camaro 2SS 1LE come May. Very excited for a few reasons:
  1. Don't have a car right now as I live in the city. Don't need a car per-say, but can't wait to drive all over the place. Visit friends in suburbia, etc.
  2. Used to do track days (HPDE) all the time with my buddies. Can't wait to compare lap times with my buddies in their BRZ and 2014 GT4. It's been a long time and I miss it so freaking much. So many good memories at VIR and Summit Point.
  3. Love the Camaro SS 1LE. Looking forward to a ready to go track day car and daily driver. I've had a 2018 Subaru WRX STI and Nissan 350z. Had to do too many mods for the other cars to get them track ready. Brake pads and tires are the only mods I'll need... hopefully. :smiling1:
  4. Excited that the Chevy warranty doesn't void if you track the car.
What do ya'll love about your Camaro's on the track?

That was my 350z for me. It was a 2003 with a 1.5 Way LSD. Miserable on the street to drive, but amazing on the track. Always got a rush in the twisty bits then getting to chat with friends after the session on how to get faster.

What is it about the Cobalt SS that you loved so much?

In my early years I remember one time that I came in too hot into a hairpin corner so I had to drift the entire turn to stay on track. That car was so predictable when it came to getting sideways (it was setup as a drift car).

The SS1LE will be miles ahead of your old cars and your buddies cars on the track (edit oops i read GT4 as Mustang GT haha, yeah the GT4 will be closer). Stock tires are great track tires FYI. (You might have just been referring to them as consumables) Stock brake pads are pretty good too and well up to the task. Brake fluid and track alignment are all you will need.

Welcome (almost) to the club!

Four things I'd recommend before your track day:
1. Change to Castrol SRF or other high temp brake fluid.
2. Track alignment specs per the High Performance Driving Supplement.
3. After the break in period, change oil 0W-40 Mobil 1.
4. After the break in period, change the differential fluid per GM.

Here’s a link from a thread about what you should do an bring with you but you stated you’ve done it before so some of it maybe redundant but this is from a old guy perspective as well.
