2015 Z/28 Collectible one day?
 

So what do you guys think, will the 2015 Z/28 be worth something 10-20 years or so down the road? they only built like what 1800?? (correct me if im wrong). right now you can get one with less than 15k on her for under 40k. its going on 5 years since it was released I believe cars usually hit the maximum deprecation at 5 years? Could be more.

the 14' would be the more valuable out of the two years, since they made a lot less in 2014. a non-black/white/silver 14' Z/28 w/o AC could be a collectors item eventually.

Short answer: No. Not within 25 years IMO unless idiots outlaw Internal Combustion Engines.

Perhaps, a 14' that was bought and then put away with no miles put on it.

I'm sure they will be collectible one day but will they ever hit much higher then their original sticker price , i highly doubt it , and that would be a perfect no mile car. I would put money on a 5th gen 1Le or Zl1 to do much better then sticker if not double one day .

I would say maybe. I don't really see any of today's cars being like the cars from the 60s. Part of what makes some of the classics such high dollar cars is the a la carte options. Back in the 60s you might have had a car that was like 1 of 6 built with this combo of options in this color. You don't get stuff like that anymore.

Only time will tell - here is what it has going for it:

Low production - 1,801 total produced including 440 in 2014, 1,288 in 2015 and 73 CTF cars (CTF = Captured test Fleet - cars for GM employees, marketing, press, auto shows, testing etc.).

Unique - Has 190 unique parts to the Gen 5 SS and has LS7 and Ceramic Brakes!

Look - it is a great looking car

Fun - it is a very fun car to drive for either track days or fun jaunts on your favorite windy road.

Success - 2 years of racing dominance until outlawed :)


Value - If you think the above are enough to make it collectible then at today's prices of $35k - $50k you won't find a more fun car to drive that can do serious track duty and be fun on the street.

So you there is no downside if you buy today, enjoy the car and you find it is collectible if you keep it.

Buying one to collect - well if you can get a low mile car - Silver or AGM (lowest production) and pay today's market for it , might be worth something some day - but won't be a good investment - so you better like looking at it - or better yet drive it and enjoy it!

Here is some Z/28 Information from when it was introduced - I will post detailed build information tonight when I get home.

The way things look right now, the 427 LS7 will be the last big cube 500+ hp n/a V-8 the American public will have a chance to get. It will go up in value quicker than you think. Especially if there is no 6th gen Z/28. IMO the Ashen Gray Zs are the one to grab. I wouldn't mind getting another one.

I think it will need more then the LS7 in the long run . When i think motors in a Z28 its the DZ 302 that will always be at top even if it don't have the HP as the LS7 while both being small blocks. The 5th gen Z28 was a short lived legend which i think will always effect its value .

I think they will be. With 1801 cars built and there's already 50+ cars confirmed destroyed (they keep good track of this in camaro5 forum), they will become rarities. Their powertrain, brake, suspension, and body mod uniqueness' have locked them into a unique category. All hail the Z/28!!!! I'm biased. Lol

I think so, because of its uniqueness. I also own one so I am a bit biased. Unfortunately I usually sell the car way before collector status kicks in. But honestly, I think I may keep this one for the long run because it’s absolutely one of the best and most fun cars I have ever owned.

if ANY of the 5th Gens are , I think it will be the Z/28...But nothing as close to the First Gen COPO or Z28's of that time era....
off topic but I see the Demons are already going up more than original MSRP, so maybe the Z will....prob much more slowly though.

They also have their own specifc VIN #, show me another Camaro with that.
