14/15 Extractor on 13

Installed the ACS 14/15 extractor on my 13. The vent is OEM GM, the tray is ACS made for 10-13 hoods. Also bought a 15 SS hood liner/insulator that's already pre-cut and ready to go.

You beat me to it. Was just going to post it. Here's the tray, but the sides were "missing" something. So I made templates and cut .08 thick aluminum strips then painted the strips. It will do for now, but once I put the car away for the winter, I'll probably recut them from carbon fiber.

Thanks my friend. Lost my mind a cut a hole in my hood. But it was worth it. Too much real estate there, needed a break in the sea of matte black

You have some balls to cut a hole in your hood! LOL :smm7:

Ya, they were clacking against each other as I was slicing.

Nice! This is one of my next projects, I have a spare hood to cut and all the parts (although I bought GM ones, not ACS). The ACS drip try looks good, hopefully I'll be able to finagle something to work with the OEM one. Did the 15 liner install easily? Matching mounting locations, etc?

I went with the ACS because it sits about an inch back (closer to the windshield). I wanted to preserve the 3 factory ridges you see in my underside pic to give it a clean looking cut. Of course, if you go with the factory tray, this cut will be better hidden as the factory tray closes most of that portion off, but for a picky prick like me, it would still be visible from various angles.

I was very disappointed with the quality of the 15 hood liner vs my 13. The quality and material of my original is far superior to the 15. I had to trim a bunch of crap hanging off the hidiously finished edges and buy a large black sharpie to black-in the edges all the way around. I had to also poke 4 holes in the center of the liner, around the tray, to match the holes for the retainers in my 13 hood.

Since I cut the aluminum strips for the sides now, and will cut a better set out of CF or aluminum in the winter again when I put the car away, I'll switch back to my factory 13 hoodliner again and use my edge strips to cover the cuts in the liner. It just looks so much better than my current one. Hope this helps
