Another reputable builder/tuner would be Jannetty. There are tons of shops out there that can put together a package for much less than what Hennessey will do for you.

JSH 01-16-2022 09:19 AM

Hennessey 850 Pkg
$23,950
(3,200) enclosed shipping
(2,000) 2-yr. warranty - some would place much higher value
$18,750

Katech 850 Pkg
no shipping
no warranty
$17,000

Ligenfelter 800 Pkg
$20,495.00
no shipping
(2,000) 2-yr warranty
$18,495

Hennessey gets a higher price because they are in higher demand and do much higher volumes of business. Judging by the Exorcist's starting price at this auction, Hennessey cars also appear to have better resale value.

You can always take yours to Mom and Pop's, but they won't know how to remove the Eaton.

LOL WHAT! What an epic reply.

Your mom and pop shop won’t know how to remove the Eaton? Lol

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better.

One day you'll learn to just block him like I did. Out of sight, out of mind.

If someone wants to spend their money on Hennessey and a "warranty" then it is their car, their money, their choice. But there are much better, much cheaper, and more reliable options out there from some of the top shops. I made a list and with each of those shops you're getting "exorcist" level HP for almost half the price and the lists include extra stuff or other upgrades that are not included in either Hennessey package. So you can spend $20K with Hennessey and end up with the 850 package and have less than 700 RWHP and heat soak from over spinning the blower...or you could spend that same money elsewhere and get 750-850 RWHP on 93 octane thru a bigger better blower and a complete package.

This Exorcist sold for $148k, so he got to drive it for 3 or 4 years and made $20k

Maybe I can get that much for mine?!

I bet you could get a Lingenfelter 1000 HP package, they could give it a "limited" production number and it'll sell just as good as the Hennessy one.

Any company could do the same.

No way. If they could, they would but they haven't.

You have to pay extra for the numbered edition Hennessey. I believe there were only 100 numbered versions in total and only available for the Exorcist. Otherwise it is just a plain Exorcist. Those are probably the ones selling high at auction. I doubt the owners leave with much after fees and costs unless its selling for a quarter mil. And they are an additional price over the starting price of $55K for the package alone. For most of those auctions there are very strict rules on the condition of the vehicle including mileage limits and how well they were stored etc. Most of them have the protective plastics and stuff still intact from the factory. It's not like these are just regular Base ZL1s that some dude threw a package on, beat the crap out of it for a few years, and then took it thru a carwash and sold it at auction for X amount. And I also believe it costs a hefty dime to even list your car at those auctions. And there is no guarantee it'll sell. Most of the time the ones that sell really high are at charity auctions.

But yes, Lingen could definitely do it. They had special edition C5s, C6s, etc. Roush has done it with the Mustangs for decades. SLP made Panther Edition 5th Gen ZL1s and special edition 4th Gen Firebird Firehawks. Calloway also.

They probably have but no one has paid attention to it or those people drive their cars instead of hoping for it to be an investment like this person did.

Oh I'm know the seller doesn't get the sold price or that it'll sell for what ythe seller wants.

IMO, a "limited edition" exorcist is no different than a regular exorcist. Other than you pay more to get a number plate. Oh wow..... but you got those with more money than they know what to do with and over pay for certain things, just because.

Other places would rather build/sell cars for fair prices instead of investing hundreds of thousands on marketing so they can slap a name on their build.

Once again….. HENNESSEY builds nothing special, there internals and externals are EXACTLY the same as another dozen shops for 2x the money.

This is not some sort of sorcery here, these are facts.

Exactly.

And like I said, the Exorcist package at $55K is what every other shop is doing for $20K. Even the 850 is grossly overpriced. Here are packages that are similar to the 850 in either cost or price:

CSP 875 package - $19,100

WX 850 package - $7,948

WX 900 package - $11,931

WX 1000 package - $19,599 (thousands cheaper than Hennessey 850)

RPM stage 4 package - $14,495 (similar to the 850)

Anyone who shops around should be able to find decently priced packages. Heck I'm still under $20K for my full build and that includes factoring in the gauges/dual gauge pod, FI chiller, and suspension upgrades. Actually I'm under $19K factoring in that I sold my stock blower. LOL!!

If I had the money. I'd buy the Exorcist just for the resale value.

They offered me one when I bought my 850, but it seemed too expensive at the time. Guess not.
