2018 ZL1

I was just told that the 1st ordering cycle for 18' is sold out due to 17's that didn't get built. Sound right?

HyperBlueX2 04-10-2017 12:55 PM

No..... that doesn't sound right...... you would have to submit a new order for the '18 MY......

It is my understanding they would have to resubmit an new order..... I could be wrong......

Yea that sounds like total BS, it's a different model year so I highly doubt they could just roll over.

I ordered my 5th gen in Feb 12, it was supposed to be a 12 but when QC issues came up it got move to 13. I did not have to do anything. Maybe it is the same with this?

I believe Becky said the same thing in one of her posts.

If you had a previously accepted order, I would definitely see that as the case......but for orders that didn't make the allocation cut, a new order will be needed....

That is probably the difference.

This happened to me in 2012 as well. it just rolled into a 13 order. Was due to transmission shortage that year.

I received the following information today from GM to a dealer:

You are receiving this message because you have at least one remaining ZL1 Coupe allocation per the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Phase 2 that was not fulfilled prior to 2017 MY build out.
Plans to Fulfill Remaining 2017 ZL1 Coupe Guide
Chevrolet plans to use the initial allocation of 2018 Camaro ZL1 units to satisfy the remaining unfilled orders corresponding to the 2017 unfilled Phase 2 guide . These units will be allocated during a dedicated Dealer Order Submission Process (DOSP) starting on May 4, 2017. We anticipate these vehicles will be produced during the first four to six weeks of 2018 Camaro production.
2018 ZL1 Allocation Plan
Chevrolet will no longer use a controlled allocation for the 2018 Camaro ZL1. It will be available through CAM / CON / CAMALL allocation groups with the first DOSP starting on May 18th, 2017. However we expect a constraint to apply for the first few months as demand settles.

"No longer use a controlled allocation"...does that mean ordering one will become easier and allocations more plentiful? I'm not familiar with what CAM/CON/CAMALL means. Anyone know?

So if I'm reading this correctly GM will not be limiting orders from dealers based off allocation. That sounds like first come first served. If a dealer has 8 customers in line they will all be able to order a car unless there's a constraint. Is that correct?

Can someone go into detail?

Becky?
