engine cover paint flaking
1 Attachment(s)
Has anyone seen this before on any of the LT1 engine cover? The red paint on the Camaro lettering is flaking off. No chemicals used ever on the engine cover, engine bay, or hood.

A lot of people have complained about this. Should be easily replaced under warranty. I will probably end up painting mine custom though.

The black letters look pretty good...In a couple of months maybe you can call this a "mod".

I've seen a thread recently where almost everyone complained that it happened to them. Maybe a quick search can help you find this thread.

I had a oem cover painted the dealer wouldn’t install it even after I told them it was oem, I then went to another dealer and same deal. Did it myself the plastic clips even with the proper tool was a bit of a headache but I got it on in about a hour aprox could be a excuse for a upgrade.

My cover is started to do the same thing. I will wait until they flake off more and them just remove the rest and leave them black.

2016SS, that engine cover looks sweet. I'll just have mine replaced under warranty the next time it's in for an oil change, which will be soon. Thanks for the feedback guys!

It's interesting that it's only happening on the right side. More heat?
|
Could be more heat. This engine produces a ton of heat. I actually had a starter fail on this engine last summer with about 7000 miles on it, likely due to excessive heat. My own personal thought, not validated by the dealer.

If you're not worried about it, RotoFab is probably the better route if you plan on modding more down the line. |

Like we talk about on the forums all the time, you have to pick good dealers. RH |
