These DRL's are BS!!

Anyone else think these cheesy plastic tabs they use to secure these heavy daytime running lamps are bullshit? The wife has been driving my car and in the last couple of months has wiped out the driver's side one and now the passenger side. Both of them struck by something on the road who knows, heck it might even just be the weight of the light that's breaking these tabs off. You pretty much have to pull a whole front bumper off to get to them out, not to mention this weird little clip that for the life of me I can't figure out without breaking. I just think Chevy could have done a better job with these. It was actually cheaper for me to buy a set rather than just the one that I needed and the prices have definitely skyrocketed since the last one I had to get.
Think I might try gobbing a bunch of JB weld or something all over the tabs to reinforce them before installing these next pair and hopefully make them last a little bit longer.

I have one side held in by only 2 screws and it hasn’t moved in the last 20k miles. Maybe some of you’re retaining tabs or screws are broken?

I did some looking around and the only place I could find that showed the shipping weight was it 2.5 lb per light. I've checked all my tabs and they're good. I know the driver side one got hit when a folding table came off of a truck and struck my front bumper when my wife was driving it. This second one I think she had a deep pothole because my lifting block and my jackpoint is actually pulled down a little bit too. I kind of laughed and said holy Christ baby what kind of pothole did you hit? she's terrified of driving this car because if anything happened she knows I'm paranoid about it so I try not to give her too much crap otherwise it makes her feel real bad and then I got to kiss her ass for a month or so lol. I guess it's just one of those things.

IIRC you have a 19+ SS?

Our DRL are pretty different from 16~18 LT ones.

Sent from toaster or something

Probably a little dry rot from age and heat. Makes it brittle.
