What do you guys think? Seems like a strong power plant at least.

Geez.... 650 lbs of torque at only 4500 rpm is impressive it in such a small engine...
Maybe that is target spec.... get r done boys.... then Chevy will beat that |
Whatever it is, it’s heavy. 400lbs heavier than a zl1 1le and 277 lbs heavier than a zl1 with auto. Does 70 hp offset that?

Bit of a porker. Sure tons of power, but would have much rather seen a 3500-3700lbs GT500.

I think people, especially Mustang faithfuls, were expecting/hoping for something more along the lines of “venom kills demons.” This document, if real, doesn’t really say it’s going to do that. |
4225 lbs? Damn that's heavy!
|
WAY too heavy!!
|
Not surprised at all on the weight of this not-so-little-pony.
The S550 body already was heavy and the GT’s stock parts don’t hold up well against (ab)use. All the bigger heavier grade drivetrain needed to keep up with the big engine put it way over the top. |
I was expecting ~ 4000 lbs but 4200+ is shocking but this document is suspicious. The 720 hp and 650 lb ft makes sense though.
|
Flat plane crank? The rev-limit implies it. Incidentally, 720 HP at 7500 RPM is 504 LbFt, which puts the high-RPM torque fall-off even more so than the LT4. Nevertheless, 650 LbFt out of a 5.2L is impressive for a big OEM V8.
