Geez.... 650 lbs of torque at only 4500 rpm is impressive it in such a small engine...
Maybe that is target spec.... get r done boys.... then Chevy will beat that

Whatever it is, it’s heavy. 400lbs heavier than a zl1 1le and 277 lbs heavier than a zl1 with auto. Does 70 hp offset that?

I’m willing to bet that this won’t be the only trim level of the car. Perhaps a variant that is more track oriented is coming. Either way, competition is good for all of us.

Bit of a porker. Sure tons of power, but would have much rather seen a 3500-3700lbs GT500.

I agree on competition is good. We should be skeptical of this document. Someone already pointed out a typo in the fuel types over on mustang6g, patrol instead of petrol. The weight just seems overly high.

I think people, especially Mustang faithfuls, were expecting/hoping for something more along the lines of “venom kills demons.” This document, if real, doesn’t really say it’s going to do that.

4225 lbs? Damn that's heavy!

Arugon 08-22-2018 07:04 PM

WAY too heavy!!

Gunkk 08-22-2018 07:25 PM

Not surprised at all on the weight of this not-so-little-pony.

The S550 body already was heavy and the GT’s stock parts don’t hold up well against (ab)use. All the bigger heavier grade drivetrain needed to keep up with the big engine put it way over the top.

Bhobbs 08-22-2018 07:31 PM

I was expecting ~ 4000 lbs but 4200+ is shocking but this document is suspicious. The 720 hp and 650 lb ft makes sense though.

Ryephile 08-22-2018 09:14 PM

Flat plane crank? The rev-limit implies it. Incidentally, 720 HP at 7500 RPM is 504 LbFt, which puts the high-RPM torque fall-off even more so than the LT4. Nevertheless, 650 LbFt out of a 5.2L is impressive for a big OEM V8.
