Interesting bit on 2014 Camaro Design
There was a very interesting piece on Autoline Daily about the 2014 Camaro changes which are of course a bit controversial here on Camaro5. Tom Peters, the director of exterior design at GM, explains why all the changes were made. For the most part they are all functional.
The Camaro segment starts at 4:46. http://www.autoline.tv/journal/?p=30527 |
I hate videos--wish these things would come with transcripts

The host has the most annoying voice! Good clip on the 14, but still glad I have the 13.

John McElroy does have an annoying voice. Hate videos you cant fast forward.

Thanks for sharing. I do like my 13 1LE, but do wish I had the same hood vent. I don't care for the aftermarket vent designs.

Yeah the guys voice is a bit helium like. I like the 14 redesign. The key is to blend it all together in a 1LE package as the rims and tires take the cars looks to a whole new level. A base 14 does nothing for me nor does a base 13. I wish the ZL1 received a similar refresh as the front end (while nice) seems a bit dated when side by side with a 14 1LE.

Love my 2014. I am one of the few I guess that think the rear tail lights look good. The stance on the 14 looks mean also.

A lot of people do, we're just tired of arguing with owners of 13's, it's a waste of time, they like theirs we like ours.:thumb: |
they talked about all that stuff last year. I don't think some of those changes to the front end that came from racing make much difference in an SS street car that people aren't racing though.
as for making It look lower and wider , it's kind of funny since they gave the car such high fender lines to begin with. |
Man you guys are hard on McElroy. I guess he does have a "unique" voice, but I really like his take on the auto industry. I was just surprised at how many of the 2014 changes were driven by function. I assumed that as with most mid cycle styling changes they were all just to make the car look different or updated. I still like the original design better, but it's still nice to know the changes were made for a good reason. Not that I need all the cooling air flow enhancements for my V6 anyway.

I love my 2014 front end on my 2013 ZL1. :)
Effectively saved over $5K buying the 2013 ZL1 'vert over the 2014 version's color HUD and upgraded LED taillights. That's it. That's what I'd be paying a lot more for the same performance. The 2013 ZL1 is everything the 2014 ZL1 is. If it weren't for the big savings, I'd have ordered a '14. I like the tails on either. |
