Thanks! And it's really ironic to me that this will be my 5th winter here and the first time it's snowed in December, let alone been this cold this early... And of course it's when I have a sports car as my only car (I've had C5s and C6s before with a DD of some sort previously, or last winter I just had my truck because of a back injury).

However since my new job pays for bus commute to work, and it takes me the same amount of time to commute on the bus as to drive... it'll sit in the garage for now (with my Yamaha FZ10 - another warm weather toy) and be driven sparingly til it's consistently over 40 degrees. Ordered some visual mods for now, which I'll update the first post with (and overall plans too)

Do you still have that Colorado? I have thought about getting one of those also.

Traded it in - But I will completely admit that if I had the money, I'd have kept it. WONDERFUL truck!

In 2-3 years after I've paid down the Camaro a good bit, I would consider buying the ZR2 they just announced a couple weeks ago - maybe as a 1-2 year old used model. Looks rad

Mojave 12-09-2016 09:02 PM

Yeah, I would love the grab a ZR2 diesel some day. I am now busy modding my Camaro too much to divert money to that idea yet, lol

I feel the same haha.

Got the taillights today and the blackout film for the lights.
Tint goes on tomorrow :)
Pics to follow!

RideZX6R 12-14-2016 08:20 PM

50% tint on windshield (for heat and dash protection)
5% all other glass
Phastek tint strips for reflectors on rear bumper, and all side markers - crap camera phone pic at dusk makes it look like the rear 1/4 windows are darker than the doors but both are 5%

(not pictured) Black out 3rd brake light that says "CAMARO" on it.

Got my OEM GM Dark tail lights in the mail, waiting on the black badges. Will install those and remove the fender badges and then appearance mods are done until a 1LE wickerbill comes out.

RideZX6R 12-22-2016 05:42 PM

Thanks guys!

Black bow ties came in the mail today (along with the microsuede knee pads), but I'm visiting family out of town... so the install will have to wait.

Got the tails used from a guy who was in an accident (not his fault) and the LEDs were already in them, so sorry but I don't know.

RideZX6R 01-09-2017 09:47 PM

Got the black badges on - Still got some badge work to do tho...

-Got a custom "1LE" badge on the way which I'll be putting in the spot that the stock "SS" badge is in on the rear. So it has the SS badge in front and 1LE out back
-Will be removing the Camaro fender badges as well

Only pick I got at a meet with some friends...

Next mods will be the ZL1 Add-ons wickerbill, a set of stainless lines, RBF600 and probably will look into G-Loc pads (although they're crap at returning email), and lowering springs.

After that the focus will shift to wheels/tires and power.

 Pretty pretty please do a suspension stroke measurement work up. I'd love to know if the Eibach's retain any compression travel prior to becoming bumpstop active. I know with the MRC's the bumpstop isn't visible, you'll have to feel for it w/out the spring installed.

Nobody, not even the vendors, have done a stroke analysis yet. This would be very helpful for those of us wanting to actually improve the handling.

Also, the wicker bill spoiler looks awesome! How was the install, easy?

Finally, G-Loc works best on the phone. They're old school that way, like most race shops.

I'm afraid I have no idea how to do such a thing. :(

Wickerbill install should take 60 mins or less, and 75% of the time is measuring/prep - 25% drilling/install.

Already got the info from G-Loc a while back, just haven't ordered yet.

Car looks great. Really looking forward to seeing how it looks dropped and thoughts on how it rides.

Got the Eibachs installed today, pics to follow.

As far as I am able to tell, I'm the first 1LE owner to install the Eibach springs. I haven't seen any other posts or write-ups and I've asked for before/after pics and gotten none. So it seems safe to assume... I wanted to share my experience with the install so far. I have NOT aligned the car yet, but the steering wheel is a whole 1/2in off to the left so I doubt any feedback I have on ride will be related. I will update if necessary AFTER the alignment later this week.

Install
We installed this afternoon, we took about 3 hours with plenty of breaks and chit-chat, you can definitely do this faster (especially with a lift). The install is easy and straight-forward and the How-Tos that Phastek and Lethal have done are decent. We used Lethal's video to verify Mag-Ride equipped cars (and thus, 1LE owners) DO NOT use the extra bumpstops that Eibach includes, was nice to know.
You DO NOT need a lift to do this...
YOU DO NEED AN IMPACT! Why? Well the thing that neither how to video shows you is... What do do without an impact when you want to take the front strut hats off... Usually front struts have an allenkey and a nuts on the top... GM decided to use Star/Torx-pattern bits for this area instead of allen keys. You need a Torx T-40... and it needs to be LONG to get thru the socket you'd use on the strut bolt. We had a a T40 and ended up breaking it. We found out the impact was the way to go. But if you don't have one, I STRONGLY recommend you get one before starting the install.
Also of note: Remove the rear sensor arms for Mag Ride BEFORE dropping the control arm, otherwise you will likely break them.

How does it look?
These are rated at 1.1in drop front and rear, however that is for non-1LEs, as it certainly wasn't the case for me.
I'd say it's about a half inch drop all around at most. Looks decent, but don't expect a "slammed" look, it's not going to happen.

How does it drive?
Well I drove home in Touring mode, and put it in Sport a couple times... I did not test S/I mode or Track mode.
Here's my reactions from each...
In Sport - Ride stiffness is about the same, didn't feel much different from what I could tell.
In Touring - It's actually softer than stock, or certainly FEELS that way. For me personally, this is a welcome change as I drive in Tour most of the time and the highway near me is somewhat rough. I don't feel like the car handles any worse, I just feel like it's a little more accommodating over rough/broken/uneven pavement.
It feels a little "loose" going over large bumps/broken pavement at high speed, which is likely just the fact that it needs to be aligned, however if the situation isn't rectified with an alignment, I'd honestly consider uninstalling them.
I can say that since the standard MRC springs and 1LE Springs are likely different rates (why else would the 1LE kit come with new springs), that the Eibachs are likely an "in between" spring rate. A little softer than OEM 1LE springs, but a little more firm that factory 1SS/2SS MRC springs.

Verdict?
I'd recommend these for folks who think Touring mode isn't quite soft enough, but Sport/Track modes are fine. Because of the negligible height difference, I don't really recommend buying these for any aesthetic purpose. Personally I will keep these, as I like the slightly softer Touring mode right, but I can't say I'd have bought them if I knew that was going to be the main/only difference.

*edit* - Took a quick pic... TOP is stock 1LE springs (taken a month or more ago)... BOTTOM is Eibach... I gotta say after seeing it - it's probably only a half inch all around at best.

Car is finished with alignment today - RotoFab intake also arrived in the mail.

Will drive the car a bit to see how I feel about the springs now that it's aligned and perhaps do a quick video on it.

Will likely install RotoFab in the next day or two.

Looking good my friend ;) I want to hear your opinion on roto fab as well

Want to get some of the Street Scene side skirts/rockers on it then do another photo shoot soon.

Other then potential wheel changes those rockers will round out the visual mods.

Centerforce_Clutches 04-11-2017 08:13 PM

Great build! The clear taillights look really nice on the black. We're subscribed to see what else you have in store for it!

RideZX6R 04-17-2017 07:44 PM

Some updates and pics...

Pulled the hoodwrap and installed 6th gen hash marks, along with removing the rear SS badge and the Camaro fender badges.

I bought some 315/35-18 Toyo TQ drag radials and some 18x10.5 C5Z replica wheels for a 1/3 mile event later in May.

I will be buying pads/lines/fluid shortly for track days to come.

Headers are on the way??? Maryland speed is dragging their feet.

This coming weekend the the Eibach springs are coming out to go back to stock along with a new alignment, and the aforementioned DRs and wheels will get mounted and I'll keep them in the garage for a bit.

Flex fuel sensor to be bought, and a tune to happen before the event in early May, hopefully the headers will be installed by then along with the TB/IM being ported. Trying for 480whp+ on E85
