I have a 1/4 and 1/3 mile roll race event on 5/12 and 5/13... which is like 3.5 weeks out and I'm not getting my headers til 4/25 (Tuesday), nor my wheels til Thursday (4/27)

So the game plan for the event prep is...
This sunday/Monday, we're going to do the following...
-Swap back to 1LE OEM springs (Eibachs are for sale in the FS section)
-Z26 brake pad swap
-mudflap/rockguard install
-RBF600 brake fluid swap
-Diff fluid swap (OEM GM)
-Alignment to street 1LE specs
-ZL1 Addons jackpads (if they're in by then)
-ZL1 addons tow hook camera mount (if it's in by then)

Tuesday night the car will be dropped off with a friend at his garage and we will...
-Pull the Intake Mani and TB (to take to SPS cylinder heads and have them ported)
-Allow my friend to start the Kooks 2in header (with 3in catless xpipe) install

While I'm waiting the drag tires will be mounted to the wheels and I'll test fit to the car and see if the rear harness needs relocation.

The car will sit in his garage til he's done with the header install AND the port work is done. Once it is, we'll re-install the TB/IM and I'll install the flex fuel sensor. This should be done by like 5/2-5/3 at latest.
Then we will drive it directly to Speed Factory and let it sit until the tuning appointment, as I'm not trying to drive car that out of tune anywhere other than necessary.

Once it's tuned (hopefully by 5/5), I'll take the weekend of 5/5-7 to shake it down and then enjoy it for the week before the event.

After the event... I'll start prepping for the HPDE/Track days this year with some new brake pads (still researching what) and a rear seat delete and harness bar/harnesses

That'll be basically it besides consumables and maybe a nitrous kit and/or wheels.

I'd like an 11.49 1/4 mile pass or better after the tune and to be able to keep up with C7 Z51s on the track - those are basically the goals this season.

The winter will either bring heads/cam and nitrous, or a blower.

The install of OEM springs and f+r Z26 pads went well.

Tomorrow she goes in for alignment, diff fluid swap, and brake fluid swap.

Then off to a friends house for the beginning of the header install (and some odds and ends like rock guards), as well as pulling the TB and IM for porting.

The jack pads and tow hook/camera mount are being shipped tomorrow. So they might get used for the header install, we'll see.

Alignment complete. However that shop will not do customer supplied fluids, so I'm having the Chevy dealer do an oil change, diff fluid change, and RBF600 brake fluid swap tomorrow.

Headers should arrive tomorrow as well.

cool! Let's see them. Where are you taking them for install? I have a scheduled alignment this Thursday at 11, (Chase Race) you can come join if you want

Will be at work then sadly.
Fluids are changed, Car is at my friend's house for headers now.

Some quick updates...

We broke the brake booster line and therefore the car did not get tuned today. It will be tuned Tuesday afternoon. About everything else is done, the car isn't drivable without the line tho.

I got the 18in DRs mounted on the 18x10.5 in wheels saturday and they're in the garage ready for a test fit

I received the following parts this week...
  1. ZL1 add ons jack pads and tow hook (camera mount to follow
  2. the Pilot Sport Cup 2s I bought (used) from a forum member today.
  3. ported intake mani and tb (and installed them)

Items still to do this weekend/week for the 1/4 mile and roll race event on 5/12-13...
  1. Test fit DRs and, if necessary, relocate harness
  2. Install rock guards
  3. install tow hook/camera mount
  4. install jack pads
  5. finish header install
  6. tune car

Car was tuned today on E85, and sadly it was really 53% ethanol. So it made 461/471 at the wheels (SAE correct, 474/485 STD correction - I feel like most use STD but I'm not sure) - Likely has 15whp more in it at least with e70 or better.
That said, it runs HARD, feels great and sounds good too.

Everything is loaded up for this weekend. Still need to install the tow hook/gopro mount, jack pads and rockguards but otherwise it's got all the mods I ordered install already.

Oh and I broke my front lip on my buddy's driveway, time for this nice piece from Street Scene splitter and the 6LE designs side skirts...

Car did great without a hiccup this weekend at the track. Roll racing on a 1/3 mile with a 40 roll at the hit was seeing 135ish speeds.

However unless others roll race 1/3 mile events (no one does), that doesn't say much. So what about the prepped 1/4 mile event this weekend.

Well, first I'll say the C5Z wheels I got were not test fitted before I left for the track (2.5 hours away from home) because of time constraints. I found they were just a bit too close to the caliper to run... they spun on the hub but took the slightest bit of paint off the outside edge of the caliper. So I didn't use them for the drag event. I just aired down the GY SC3s to like 24lbs, drove around the waterbox instead of thru it, and spun em a bit to get any pebbles,etc off them.
Best 60ft? a whopping 2.18 - Did I mention I haven't drag raced in like 5 years and I was on the stock tires? lol
Best ET? 12.700 (on the 2.18 60ft run)
Best trap speed? 119.6 mph (on a 12.740 run which had a 2.299 60ft lol)

Not sure what that indicates power-wise but the car felt good. Obviously I've already ordered spacers and will head to the track with the Toyo TQs all mounted up and see how it goes.

Also ordered the lip and sideskirts referenced above.

An update to say, not much updates...

Last weekend I did a full paint correction and detail on the car (which consisted of)...
Optimum No Rinse
Clay Bar
Optimum Hyper Polish with PC7424 DA orbital polisher
Optimum Paint prep
Optimum Gloss Coat

And simply put, my phone's camera does not capture the metallic flake in the MBM paint very well at all so I didn't take any pics worth posting. However it looks better than it did from the dealer in person. However, the front-bottom of the rear quarter-panels has rash from rocks, as does the lower front bumper and rear-bottom of the front fenders. Not much can be done about that as the damage is already done.

I have been patiently waiting for about 3 weeks now for a set of 6LE Designs side skirts and a Street Scene front lip - both are supposed to ship tomorrow. I will be installing them along with the rock guards in the next week or so hopefully.

After that... well I'm working on plans next...

I will be purchasing a used NX Nitrous plate for the TB from a user here most likely and piecing together a nitrous kit (with standalone fueling) that my friend is removing from his car to go turbo.

I have some beginnings of R&D for 5.3L GEN5 heads (for all motor purposes), and would spec a cam after that.

I still need to buy some brake pads for road course and I'd prefer to buy a rear seat delete and harness bar from BK soon too.

Appearance Stuff...
  • Phastek order for my Street Scene front lip will finally arrive Monday (only took 6 weeks, heh)
  • 6LE Designs side skirts are still not here - filed a dispute with paypal, I just want the money back as of this point.

Track Stuff
  • Purchase Raybestos ST43s (mildly used) from glamcem
  • glamcem also showed me his 305 Front and 325 Rear NT01 setup on the PS-7s and it convinced me to pull the trigger on the same setup so
  • Apex PS-7s in 19x10.5 F and 19x11 R are on the way
  • Nitto NT01 in 305/30-19 and 325/30-19 are also on the way
  • C7Z06 front fender flares are on the way as well as new TPMS sensors
  • My OEM 1LE wheels and tires are for sale as a result - check the wheel/tire classifieds or regional PNW forum for info
  • Also selling the 305/30-20 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s I bought... ads for those in the same forums as the wheels/tires.

Drag/Highway/Power Stuff
  • I received a Nitrous throttle body plate :) so I can start piecing together a nitrous kit for the car.
  • I'll probably be purchasing an emblempros switchboard
  • I'll also probably be purchasing a friend's nitrous kit and standlone fuel system for a very nice price
  • 600-650whp on spray is probably the end result
