door lock cover reinstall after removal

I had to use my manual key today and removed the lock cover in order to get in the car.

How do you get the cover to properly seat on the end toward the rear of the car. As it sits now you can still see some of the shiny lock metal when viewed from above.

Before it was seated against the door to the point that no metal was visible.

I have tried several times to get it to re seat, but the cover acts like it is just a little to small.

Thanks and I have already done a search.

No point, it's totaled :laughabove:

Okay, cheesy Friday joke aside, I've had success following the method described in the owner's manual. Hopefully the small retention tabs on your cover are still intact.

Thank you arpad_m.

Your response is much appreciated.

My son held the door handle open and I was able to properly install the cover.

It looks like it's supposed to now, the cover is in full contact with the seal all the way around.

Unless you change your key fob batteries and your car battery ahead of time, you will probably deal with this.

Personally, I wish they would have stayed with a key and an ignition switch.

These cars have too much electronics.

Time seems to affect batteries just as much as use. My car is for pleasure only,

I use a battery maintainer and I replaced the car battery too prevent any problems with a weak battery. My car is a 2017 that was manufactured in late 2016.

I do it twice a year when the car goes into storage and I remove the battery.
Gives me a chance to verify the inside trunk release works, too. 🙂
