I can see that they want to compare V6 against V6, but in this case, I think they are comparing it to the wrong Camaro.

Even if you compare the power to weight ratio, it seems like the Supra is really underated based on this info

Could be other factors too. Rear drive ratio can have a lot to do with acceleration. But yes, it probably is underrated a bit.

Very true, but that trap speed tells a lot as well. It's trapping almost as fast as the V8 Camaro

I'm sure the almost 100 ft-lbs of torque at very low RPM also helps the Supra along.

If you look at the last few pages of the other supra thread, you will see that its likely the supra probably has more like 350whp, yes to the wheels

Kinda of a weird comparison... but i've grown to like them, comparing and contrasting fairly different cars can give you insight on both. I know it's too early, but I would have liked them to compare how the supra vs 1le does on track. I wonder how the supra will do in the lightning lap.

I thought the H2H of the M2 vs v6 1le was really good, and made the 1le look really good despite the $52k? m2 winning

I read that whole thing thinking there was going to be an actual comparison, then got to the bottom to find that its just a poll.

Look at the weight difference. The Supra is 160 lbs lighter than the V6, and 300 lbs lighter than the V8.

At 350 rwhp this thing is more like 420 at the motor. That would certainly help explain the 113 mph trap speed. Plus I've also read it weighs closer to 3100 lbs vs the 3300 lbs they have listed here

There is some serious sandbagging going on over at Toyota. I wonder if they're doing this in order to not overshadow the BMW. It'll be interesting to see the inevitable flood of dyno videos.

Sat at their desks and wrote the article. They should have at least compared to the SS or SS 1LE which would have had near similar performance numbers and still cheaper. Looks are subjective but I have to say the new Supra was hit with the ugly stick. Seems car magazine always have to tie mullets or rock with the Camaro. Just as I always tie the writers of the car magazines to softer types who prefer wine and cheese over beer and wings and pay to have their lawns mowed. No offense to anyone, be who you want to be.

I read this earlier also.

Put these two on a tight track and the V6 Camaro 1LE might be able to put up somewhat of a fight, but anyone who knows much about this knows Supra is really more of a competitor for the SS 1LE than the V6 1LE, and that's not putting down the V6 1LE at all.

Seems like I always read that BMW engines are "under-rated" (yes I know...can't happen in today's world...blah blah blah) so it doesn't surprise me at all that this thing gives the SS competition in a straight line.
