What all is required for the install on one of these? Is this an easy at home job, or does the airbag swap take a little more expertise than your average at home tinkerer?

It's relatively easy. I've not done them on this car specifically but I've done it on other GM cars with a similar design. Here's a video/thread that walks through it.
