Help!! Squeak when start/stop
 

Hey guys, new to the forum. My 1LE is making a squeak noise from the front. I hear it when starting or stopping. I can also reproduce it via rocking the car when off (see attached YouTube video of mine). Can be in neutral with no braking too.

I took it to the dealer. They could reproduce it but said couldn’t identify it and it was likely strut tower or brakes. They said everything is right and to spec. I attached their write up. Seeing as I could reproduce it car off, holding the body, I think it might be one of the two. It’s much less noticeable in cabin.

Any help most appreciated! Anyone have had this or recommend anything. I don’t necessarily have time to keep going to dealers ugh. Just annoying is all!

FIXED!!!! this is what I sent to Chevy (if anybody needs details I can provide so you don’t have to go through this issue) ...

So this bugged the crap out of me. Even after your tech felt is was the suspension or brakes I was not convinced. I just got done crawling under my car and FIXED it!!

Just as I suspected, was for sure coming from the trans tunnel. After poking around it turns out the the fiber material inside the tunnel was rubbing and making the noise. I adjusted it with those round metal retainer clips. Voila!!

I really wanted to let you know, so you can advise your tech; that way nobody else has to go through this. Maybe it’d be good for a TSB (if ya like I can supply you with more details etc). In my heart I knew this wasn’t suspension or brakes. Took me about an hour. 😃👍
