How-To: Install Uniden R7 Radar Detector with New Blendmount on a 2019+ Camaro

Until just recently there was no Blendmount to install a radar detector on your 2019+ Camaro 1SS/2SS/ZL1 (and C8 Corvettes) with the fancy (and awesome) rearview camera mirror screens. Blendmount finally released these a few weeks back (at least for the R7... maybe for the other brand radar detector mounts had been available longer?) and I had ordered the first batch and just now got around to installing it with a Uniden R7 into my 2021 Camaro ZL1. I also used the Gen5DIY wiring harness for a nice clean look.

Anyways, here are the mounts for those who were looking for something other than suction cups or whatever (be sure to verify fit of your car and radar detector):

Yes, works on 2020 3LT with rear camera mirror. Just installed it it today.

Not to hijack the thread but I have an Uniden R8 that I will be installing in my ZLE when jt gets here with a Blendmound bracket. Does the rear view mirror have auto dimming feature or is it only manual? It’s one of the options I have to pick when getting the correct mount.

I believe it should be BR7-2028, https://blendmount.com/aluminum-rada...ries-br7-2028/, this one doesn't give any options to select for rearview mirror type and is for 2019+ Camaros as well as C8 vettes with the rearview mirror camera screen. Just be sure to select the R8 model in the drop down :)

I have a 2018 so will look for that model

Is it pretty easy to remove the radar?
Having a convertible I jump out quick to run in a store and just grab it

Very. Holding the retention tab in the back of the mount, push the release button on the detector, then slide/pull it off the blendmount frame, done.

Replacing it is even easier, you just need to slide it in, the tab often doesn't even need to be touched if you go at the correct angle.
