Saved money on dyno time

I've always wanted to know if my car made the power it's supposed to.

Since the performance shop that I used with my previous car gets $150 for a few runs, I decided to do a "real world" dyno run. So I let her rip (on a closed course :gossip:). Let off at 172.

I think I got a representative example. I'm happy.

$150 wouldn't even pay lawyer retain fee for those speeds.

Good luck w that strategy.

It's unfortunately the South Florida way. Can't wait to get out of this shit hole.

Do you have PDR clip or police citation for proof?

Need some sort of readout to compare.

:noidea:

Mine did 173.

Might be worth a trip. Thanks.

172 on public roads is a special kind of stupid. That'll take a life real quick... but that's just my .02 worth.

I would suggest finding a standing-mile event or something to participate it. Controlled environment, no cops, and you get a time slip to brag about, not just a (probably exaggerated) claim.

Sorry, I know you didn't ask for my opinion, and apparently I'm a 'snowflake', so I digress.

Shit 45mph will take a life real quick. 172 could take a whole bunch of lives...

Lol, I hit 178 in our local mexico at 2-3am no one near (for the snowflakes out here)... Anyway....

Dude go to STP Motorsports (very close to FLL) thats where I get my dyno runs for tuning, done over 50-60 pulls there. They charge 80/hr and to me its a honest dyno... Also If you just want a baseline.. Hit me up, I'll give you my personal info and I can get you $50 for 3 passes i've organized a camaro dyno day there and since then they have given me and all my camaro friends that rate.

Genuine question here, is the car modded , do you feel you got constructive data out of the run? Was it still pulling? Not judging as I’ve done speeds conidered unsafe myself in the past, in my dreams.

Mine is bone stock. The only data I got/wanted was to see what the car would do (indicated mph), period. MPH was increasing slowly up there. Might have done a couple more.

But it's not a Mustang at Cars and Coffee, so.....:noidea:

In all seriousness, 172 on a public road is monumental amounts of dumb. Don't kill or die over $150.

Edit - just saw "stock 1LE" - it would take a very long time to get to that speed in a stock 1LE. My car is supercharged and the most I've seen at either NJMP or VIR is just north of 150 mph, and those are fast runs.

You were being dumb for a long time.
