Who else is disappointed in what they've seen thus far in the 6th Gen?
 

Looks like a 5th Gen 2.0

If this is the case and I cant see why it wouldn't be. I would think that GM would seriously regret not making a bigger move with the 6th Gen years later. The 5th Gen car has sold a ton of units which is the #1 key to success. I just don't understand how this particular body style (5th gen and 6th gen) can sustain this type of popularity over the amount of time that the 6th gen should last.

If the 6th Gen starts in 2016, typically generations with Camaro's last about 10 years. Putting the 6th gen and this body type to an end in... 2026? That would mean the 5th/6th Gen would have been around for 16 years?? That's really pushing it. Then again the 6th gen could be shortened and the 7th Gen could replace it just 5-7 years in. Who knows..

I was hoping to see a totally new and different type of body style.

It was well known the next generation was going to be an evolution of the 5th gen. Still, the renderings and line sketches we have seen are at best an educated guess on what the car will look like. I have faith GM will deliver a killer car that will continue what the 5th generation has accomplished.

You have to build on your success while keeping some trade lines of that success. BMW has made the 3 Series successful through small evolutions. The 2nd Gen 4 Door Charger was an evolution.. But we get a lighter, faster Camaro with better interior. I wanted something new too.. I wanted something revolutionary, but isn't the 5th Gen the perfect car to
evolve???

Also, Camaro generations don't typically last 10 years.. The 1st and 5th did not...

I was hoping for an evolution of the 5th Gen so I'm happy with the direction they're headed. The C6 wasn't a huge departure from the C5 and I was alright with it.

5th Gen owner: Why yes, I love it.

GM: Great, because if you love the current one, you will love the next one. The next one is only going to be an evolution of the the current design, do not expect a radical departure from the current one you love so much.

October 2014; the car is shaping up to be an evolutionary design vs. a revolutionary one.

5th Gen owner: OMG I this car is disgusting! I hate it!!!

The only thing that seems to be "revolutionary" about it is the change of the platform. Smaller chassis = lighter car, and a lighter car with a similar engine = better performance. GM is doing exactly what 5th Gen owners wanted by cutting weight without getting "stupid" with it.

I like what I've seen so far, I'm just holding final judgement (do I trade Bee or not) until I can actually see one.

Im with the OP on this one but I will make my final decision on what I will do once i actually see the car. My biggest gripe is that they shortened it up too much for my liking. I like the look of big cars and IMO the 5th gen was perfect! but I cant see myself buying another 5th gen just because I dont like the 6th gen. At that point I will look at the challenger (I wil NEVER go Ford). A lot of people are concerned with weight loss but Im not, I mean I like the HP it has with the weight. I dont race cars or go to the track so weight isnt an issue for me. They need a Camaro XL version or something. Lol.

I like the looks of the 5th Gen and the 6th Gen is going to be a smaller more refined version. I'm OK with that! :chevy:

I like smaller, lighter with the LT1 and the 8 speed. We can't really tell enough about the true shape with the camo so I'm fine so far. I think I'll be okay with the way it evolves.

No way in heck the 6th gen will last 10 years. This isn't the 80s and 90s and early 00s any more. The industry moves faster than that now.

As others above have already pointed out, it was said to expect an evolution. Not an all new design.

What I'm hearing is that you are sad that the car could look similar to the 5th gen. Well...sorry about that, but if it were the other way around, and the car was a huge change well then we'd have lots of "BUT the 5th gen is the best looking Camaro EVER....why would GM jump ship!!????"

Last but no least...we still haven't seen the actual car. Based on what we have seen, the body lines look to be very similar, but there are lots of things we haven't seen. BIG difference between seeing a car in camo versus the real deal all dressed up on the showroom floor.

Many (including myself) felt that the 5th gen would be the perfect car if it were just a lighter, and perhaps tiny bit smaller car. Well thats what GM is giving us. We are getting a car on a sweet chasis, with a sweet engine, and most certainly a completely redone, modern interior with all the goodies.

Nobody complains when BMW, or Porsche goes decades on a similar design while increasing performance, and quality. Why can't Camaro do it with such a beautiful design?

but the 2nd, 3rd and 4th did? That's over half. We know why the 1st didn't that was a given. The 4th lasted from 93-2002
