First Nurburging Visit...

Took advantage of ok weather and an open schedule.

After a 3 hour trip via the autobahn where there are surprisingly few unrestricted stretches - arrived at the Ring for opening day:

I'm not a pro and even then I'm quite rusty so enjoy the hamfistedness.

Looking forward to getting comfortable in the seat again.

Certainly impressed with the car!

Man what a dream to live close enough you can go there and enjoy the track.

Wow a dream come true, one of the best handling cars with a strong engine at one of the best world greatest track: the Nurburgring. Amazing experience.

Got me thinking about asking for a transfer to Germany now...

FNxR3DNECK 03-10-2019 10:55 AM

I’m counting the months until I leave now, this will definitely be one of my first stops once my car gets there haha

Amiaji: Funny...of course, a bit embarrassing how slow it was going on that lap. Must have been the first lap to warm the tires (read 'Cold'). Or I was just slow for the day...

Admittedly, the convenience of the schedule is a great benefit. 6-hour round trip is not insignificant though and totaled ~$225 for the day with fuel. Means I should do more laps for the trip next time...I was happy to survive the first foray with the temps/moisture conditions.

Germany: Jury is still out. My previous tour in UK was quite enjoyable - likely more so than Germany. UK has a ~dozen road circuits at reasonable cost. And you can wash your car on Sunday at home (read much less rules!) Either one is certainly a unique experience that shouldn't be skipped.

Looks like we will have 3 1LE's in the country in near future...

Now we'll have to change the name from ,"The Ring" to "The Ging". Thanks for posting.

Fresh Goodyears and warmer/dryer weather was a real treat...

The look of the GPS map in the corner gave me a good laugh haha man I can't wait to get over there and turn some laps! T-Minus 8 months!

lol

I would love to live near the Ring and just spend the rest of my life wearing out tires on that track.

Tim M 04-02-2019 07:15 AM

FNxR3DNECK: the Ring access may make up for a portion of the redtape/bureaucracy you may experience on the overseas move. This transfer has been the worst in 25 years...

mjk3888: Lots of ring rentals available - and nearly as much fun. I used to rent a prepped Suzuki Swift with 107 HP...tons of fun at $80 a lap.

Fortunately, I've got a few years to attempt a good lap...it can also be addictive/expensive!

Camaro seemed to shrug it off with no issue - I like it!

I'm sure the move will be a HUGE pain in the ass but hopefully it will be worth it haha I've already been looking at options for track days (though most look to be VERY expensive), as well as potentially the Season Pass for the Ring which gives unlimited access on the open days (roughly the cost of 70 laps).

Should be pretty epic, and I'll definitely be hitting other fairly local tracks as well as possibly some longer trips to some other European tracks for sure.
