Question about rotofab CAI

I see the popular Rotofab CAI, is of an open
Box design, whereas there is a more expensive
CAI that seems to be a closed box design.
Can someone explain the pros and cons of
Both CAI ( other then differences in price)

Youd like to think that the closed box is cooler but it's not going to translate to anything power wise, it's aesthetics, the logic of it is pretty sound but practical application is it's all a wash with an open top box. gains on any CAI are a pretty sensitive topic.

Thx for the info, but you’d think that sucking
Hot air under hood, instead of cold air outside
Would be somewhat detrimental?

the Rotofab seals to the hood, so the box is only open when the hood is open. They both suck from outside and both have about the same amount of gain, which is negligible.

Ok, so that’s why there’s rubber seals on top
Of the rotofab, the hood creates a “closed box”
Interesting. Thx

Only difference, IMO, is the roto-fab allows you to hear the whining from the supercharger more clearly. Love that sound!

So, on a stock motor, I’m assuming, whatever increase
In HP/Torque, is negligible.and not worth installing
Unless u do other mods to engine/Ecu?

Correct. If you want the RF for engine bay bling it's fine, but there are no gains without a tune.

If you tune the car, get the Big Gulp.

"not worth installing" is your choice, but if buying for performance only then I would agree, that on its own, it is not worth installing.

I like the extra whine you get from it too, so I will be installing one when I get my ZL1 for that reason. Then a couple years later when I install headers and a tune it will provide more in the way of performance.

If you don’t daily drive your ZL1, here’s my recommended best bang for the buck air intake mod:

1. Replace the OEM paper filter with a high-flow drop-in filter like the Green.

https://greenfilter.com/store/7299

2. Remove the plastic rain/snow blocker plate behind the upper grill on the driver’s side. See post #20 in this thread:

https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showt...t=snow+blocker

This will give the air flow a more direct path to the inlet opening on the air box.

The end result is you’ll build boost a little faster (not more boost) which will give the car a little extra grunt in the mid-range.

The final benefit to this mod is you’ll save yourself roughly $425 over the cost of a Roto-Fab intake.

To the Op, if you want to invest in a RotoFab intake then by all means buy one and install it. It made a noticeable difference in my ZL1 with improved throttle response and running that I don’t have any regrets spending the money buying one. That’s my 02 cents worth advice for you!

Don't forget to apply the Roto-fab included sticker somewhere on the car. That alone is worth at least 50-70 RWHP..... /HondaCivicLogic

Nope I don’t need to put a sticker on my ZL1 to advertise. Don’t knock one until you try one on your ZL1!👍

Hennessey must feel the same as they totally reworked that area on mine. No sign of the plate.
