Deer VS ZL1

Since I'm still a bit new here ill share my story on what happened to me this May and the damage a Deer did to my ZL1.

RT 287 southbound @ 70mph.

Took about a month to fix, (would of taken many months as there was no NEW steering knuckle in the entire USA, GM was backordered with no ETA as they had the strike and then covid. Said it could be 4-6 months, I said that was crazy and located a steering knuckle off a 2018 ZL1 that was wrecked on the right side for $75, car had 6k miles knuckle was like new) Needed new front end (pretty much all parts), Left Front Fender, Split the steering knuckle in 2 pieces, needed all new suspension parts on left side (excluding strut), left door work and runner. Lower left cooler was punctured as well. 14k Later and looks as good as new. First time hitting a deer, wasn't fun.

The deer on 287 suck, they always sit on the side of the road. Glad ur ok, car looks great!

The work looks brilliant, sorry about the deer!

Just curious on this, did insurance replace the rotofab no questions asked?

Yep, just the filter was damaged though. But I had extra ones. They subtracted it from the amount of the repair.

I think after the steering knuckle debacle they just said yes cause they didn’t want to deal with me.

This one did a leap of death out of the woods right in front of the car. Literally was a split second. Now I try to drive in center lane when I can.

The deer suck all over NJ, figures first one I hit has to be in the camaro and not my crappy ford work van...

Hit one last year but it was in my 'work' car. $5k in damage but at least I was able to drive away. There are lots of places here where you can just count them on the side of the road. I just pray they stay where they are at. Gators, hogs, and coyotes are also things to watch out for in my area.

Biggest concern I have is deer on the road around here.

Volunteer for annual deer control (hope it doesn't fall victim to stupidity any time soon) and help take care of the overpopulation problem.

BTW I sustained eerily similar damage to my car in late March, so I can totally relate, the only difference is that it was my fault entirely. I couldn't sleep for two days, blaming my stupid ass, but then the car got fixed up very well. Though it took a long time, it's better than new, seriously, the body shop worked wonders with the alignment.

what are these deer things yall talk about? lol biggest concerns we have in cali are homeless people walking on the freeway and tire debris haha

I do my best each year.

Overpopulation is what happens when .gov actively tries to stifle hunting.
