Air intake upgrades

I have a 2021 LT1 convertible and I have a ton of my chevy pts that I can’t use towards a new lease or purchase (can’t be combined with GM family discount). I’m looking to possibly upgrade the air intake. Is it a noticeable difference to upgrade it? I read online some places claim it’ll help with performance and sound. I was specifically looking at these 2 products;

Or just the filter

Difference in sound yes, but difference in performance no. That's the simple answer

Annnnnnd maaaaaybe a check engine light everyone once in a while because you'll alter how the air is getting metered by the MAF.

My GM CAI on my SS came with a "tune", or recalibration the dealer does - for free, even of you install the CAI yourself

How noticeable is the sound difference? And is that for the whole intake system or just the filter?

The sound difference is huge. I owned two gen6 SSes with the standard air intake. My third has the Chevy Performance CAI and was surprised how much louder it is even with the sound tube removed.

Looks pretty good too. :cool:

Big sound difference, and gets rid of the stupid sound tube.

I got the AFE Momentum GT intake, and it made a pretty solid difference in sound. Definitely a deeper and throatier sound

Not sure on others but the sound tube remains with the GM kit, easily gotten rid of though.

Correct. The provision for the sound tube remains. You can see the blocked hole in the picture above.

I left the sound tube on the two standard air boxes

Technically not true. Someone did a dyno and found a difference in power. You do get a little bit more horses and torque, just not enough to be felt(using the 10% rule).

I'd wager that the CAI vs. stock intake difference would be similar to the difference between the Bullit/Mach 1 480 BHP Coyote vs. the regular 460 BHP Gen 3 Coyote.

Very true, but 10 hp on the dyno (especially with a fan blowing) might be far less on the street. Know what I mean?

If you guys were looking for the most aggressive intake sound, what CAI would you go with? Rotofab, CAI(GM), K&N, other?
