ZLE road Trip

So I am taking the ZLE on a 2800 Mile road trip starting in MD and going to Sarasota then down to the Florida Keys and back. Will see how she does. Just me and the wife are going down for 10 days. We leave Friday looking forward to the drive down. Hopefully we have good weather for the drive.

I am going to assume you have other tires besides the OEM? If not, hopefully you don't get rained on on the way down... I think this will be a great drive.. i don't remember the roads being too bad. You taking 95 south?

I would be careful though. I was in love with my ZLE until I took about 1k miles trip on it and realized that while this car is awesome and probably the best and most capable car i have ever owned for the price range, it is not meant for the streets, and much less for long road trip. This is subjective but just my experience...

Other than that, enjoy... And wave to other Camaro owners...lol

Enjoy! hopefully on something other than Supercar 3R ( terrible street tires).

Mine has 24,000 miles on it to date, rolling on PS4S most of the time.

Hahhaha yes I have PS4S on it and yes I am taking 95 South.

I grew up in the DMV and made road trips to Florida with my parents to visit family almost every summer as a kid...but not on hard mounted suspension on high rate springs on 3Rs. I did it in a modified 240Z with coil overs though. Significantly more brutal than a ZLE.:thumb:

If you have some miles and/or seat time in your ZLE, you know what to expect.
If mamma is good to go and you love your A1Z, it sounds like a great road trip to me.

Maybe a track day at Daytona, Sebring, VIR, Charlotte or RA on the way???

Enjoy!

Since you'll past my neck of the woods, do NOT take exit 90 on I95 in Georgia from either direction. Road work has been going on for over a year now and trying to get back onto the Interstate can be a nightmare.

They're replacing the traffic light and stop sign for round a bouts (stupid IMO) and making a couple of more lanes.

Have a great trip. I have taken my ZLE on two 2500 mile road trips from Georgia to western New York. Even modded I saw around 24-25 MPG cruising on the highway, combined mileage both times was around 20. Engine temp was alway around 182-185 even in hot summer weather. It’s a great road trip car, crank up the tunes, comfortable seats and enjoy all the smiles and thumbs up you are going to get. Enjoy!!!

I drove mine back from Tampa to IL, and had a great trip. Just be careful in construction zones and you will be fine.

I live in MD as well. You will have no problems driving the car.

I have the PS4S tires and did a stint all the way to the Tail of the Dragon and surroundign roads and back. No issues for me.

Your wife on the other hand may end up hating it...especially over those expansion joints on 95.

Good Luck.

Op that road trip sounds like fun, curious to know what it's like in a ZLE though. Since your heading here in Florida I would pay attention to the tropical storm that we're looking to get early next week sometime around Monday or Tuesday. Good luck and drive safe.

Though I’ve not driven all the way to Florida in my ZLE, I’ve done numerous road trips to North Carolina, West Virginia, & Tennessee from my home in Northern Virginia. I have Michelin PS4S tires mounted on an otherwise stock ZLE. At first, I was expecting the worst. After the first trip, it was evident it was not nearly as bad as I was expecting. It was easy to drive and did very well on gas, considering it’s a 650 hp automobile. The softer side wall on the PS4S is definitely an improvement over the 3Rs. Just be careful with the throttle.. even in 6th gear while cruising, 100 mph is nearly imperceptible. I am certain at some time during your trip you will look down and see triple digits and be like WTF! Have fun and post up some road trip pics with the ZLE!

I'm taking mine down to big pine key in the morning. SC3 on front and Nitro 555r2 on back

Well thanks for everyone's comments and suggestions. I do have about 6k miles on the car so I have a pretty good feeling for the suspension. My wife is a great she knows how bad I want to drive and she supports us taking it. I will definitely take some pictures on the way down. I have been keeping an eye on Elsa thankfully we will be there by then and the place we are staying has a garage that I can park in. I am hoping that the storm misses us. Hopefully we will have a smooth drive and not to much traffic.

Check your plans... there is a tropical storm that will be impacting Fla this weekend through Tuesday. A lot of rain from the Keys all the way up to Orlando. Could make for some challenging driving.

Plus it has been raining here everyday for the past week.

The ride otherwise would be supper cool post up pics...
