What’s your tow solution?

Im looking at the best fit for trailering my zl1 to the track. Im thinking enclosed but its easy to buy too much trailer, i just want to get the car there and not have it full of rock chips.

Mostly concerned with loading and unloading since the 1le is pretty low.

Give me some ideas!!

Your car drives on the track at 150MPH, towing your car isn't going to be much different than driving your car on the road. If your tow vehicle is kicking that many rocks up maybe consider a mud flap or something, but I haven't had any issues with my car. I have an open trailer with a winch for loading/unloading.

There are some better options out there, I like the all aluminum ones that tilt but they obviously cost more. I found this on facebook marketplace for cheaper so I bought it.

A good economical trailer for low hanging snouts is the Sloan Kwik Load. On perfectly flat surfaces my Z/28 clears but on uneven gravel or dirt I throw down a couple of 2 X 10s for extra clearance. My version is 18ft (20 would give you a bit more room) and I use the ZL1 Addons strap points with my Mac straps.

I mention this because the OP has a 1LE that has lower suspension.

I've always wondered too high owners of enclosed trailers get in and out of the car when it is inside the trailer, as even an 8.5 foot wide trailer's inside wdith is too narrow to open a car door inside. Do you have to align the car's doors with a side trailer door? Or do you have to crawl through the backseat pass through and trunk? Or do you have to just winch the car in and out keeping the wheels perfectly straight? Or?

Also, having owned a few open and one enclosed motorcycle trailer, I learned that you cannot park a trailer on grass or other vegetation, as it will corrode the trailer chassis very quickly. A friend who did not know this bought a nice 20 foot open trailer and parked it on grass because he did not have enough open driveway space. It got very badly corroded within one wet season. OP needs to ensure he has a paved or gravelled parking spot.

The trailer fenders are held on by 4 wing nuts, easily removed. Notice the driver side fender is off in the lower photo.

I have used "open" 18' Enclosed 20' and Enclosed 28' w/escape door...

I got to say it is extremely nice to have an enclosed trailer at the track. Add a generator, A/C, TV, and your track experience will be greatly improved! The smallest trailer I suggest to anyone with a Camaro is a 24x8.5 Enclosed. You want room for "stuff". Tires, fuel, tools... Keep in mind you will want a winch mounted in the front because it's easier to pull the car in than it is to drive it in and attempt to get out of it..

If you want the best... Get one with a full-side flip-up escape door... This will save you from needing to use a winch and makes for a nicer space to hang at the track in between runs.

Tomster: Now THAT's a car trailer!! Do you have velcro screens for mosquito control, and a TV and refrigerator for when the car is not in the trailer?

I did something like that and much more with my enclsoed motorcycle trailer, and used it as a vacation home in RV parks when vacationing with the motorcycle!
