PTM vs Steering setting
I prefer the tour mode steering, i don’t like artificially heavy steering so I set that in the vehicle settings so that it’s always in tour.
However, i felt sometimes that it switched to track (I always drive in track mode) steering and didn’t know why. Today I think I figured it out, in track, with PTM default, wet, dry, or sport 1, it still feels like Tour steering, but if you use sport 2, or race, it stiffens up to the heavy steering. Is it supposed to do this? Does everyone else’s do this? |
Go to settings and lock it in tour.

That is strange. My car doesn't do that. Perhaps you are comparing the tour steering while rolling vs tour steering in the parking lot? AFAIK the steering assist varies with speed.

sitting still at idle, when moving wheel back and forth, there is a noticeable effort increase when in sport 2 and race. I'll play with it more, but for a while i thought i was crazy.

Interesting. When you set it to tour in the infotainment I'm pretty sure it's supposed to always be in that steering mode regardless if driver mode or PTM mode. I've not actually tried it in mine so I can't say if it's common to mine or not.
Assist does change with speed, though, as R3ctivision mentioned. I'd suggest finding a clear corner that you can take at 20+ mph a few times in a row at the same speed and try different PTM modes to see if the steering still feels different. Maybe switching PTM modes like that only impacts the steering assist cal when you're sitting still? |
My steering is locked in Tour mode and I feel no difference when I change the modes thru the rocker switch or when I'm in the Competitive/PTM offerings.

If you select Tour on Infotainment screen it should feel the same no matter what drive mode you select.

-cruising at a constant 38mph (throttle held still - not cruise control) -mode selector locked in Tour If you switch to sport 2 or Race from Sport 1, it NOTICEABLY gets firmer. The slower you go below 38, the more pronounced it is. I initially noticed the steering felt heavy when doing a very fast right, left, right into my parking lot at work, which is what spurred this entire discovery. |

Might be a good question for the engineering team / ask al forum. :iono: |

The track mode steering is not artificially heavy. It just reduces power assist.
Not good for city driving, good for 130 mph+ stability. https://www.camaro6.com/forums/attac...7&d=1492008221 |

Track mode steering is just reducing the assist so artificially heavy probably isn't the right term. It is definitely unnecessarily heavy though. You can get just as much steering feel in Tour and I have only used sport sparingly to help steady my hands on fast sweeping corners. Track is just too much effort and makes it harder to feel. However this is a good tool to adjust depending on the driver. If you have "happy hands" use track steering, if your more precise with your inputs and don't want any extra tension fighting your hands then use tour steering. |
