US to EU specs Camaro conversion!

Hi there fellow Camaro owners! I've created this thread in order to gather helpful info about converting an US based Camaro to EU specs as probably there will be more of us in the future who will import the 6th v1 from US because the 2019 facelift is quite controversial. So, is anybody here who has already done a conversion?

Probably not yet on a '19.

You'll need to get the EU spec mirrors and swap out the colored quarter panel markers for clear. And don't have a splitter on the car when you import it.

Here a 2018 ZL1.

I ain't gonna buy new mirrors just 4 the turn signals in them, I don't even know if the wiring harness has support for that + that us mirrors are smaller, therefore they're cooler  I'll convert the front side markers to turn signals, as their colour is already amber. Next I'll have to split the brake from turn sihnal on the rear and instal amber led, then a fog tail lamp. About the headlights cleaning system idk........some ppl say that on camaro they're only 2000 lumens meaning celaning system is not needed,(EU versions come with no such thing) still I saw a bunch of camaros on mobile.de for sale with aftermarket headlight cleaning system installed, maybe the owners were not aware of the 2000 lumens thing....

The US spec taillight assembly is also illegal in some EU countries, the turn signal can't be red, it has to be amber. This also means the reverse light may need to be moved out of the assembly (the way it's done on the EU Camaro) to make room for separate brake and blinker light units, which then means you need a different rear valance.

I've got it covered, turn signal&reverse both in inner socket of the tail light. brake will remain in the outer socket as is now. For splitting the brake from turn signal I'll probably cut off the brake pedal switch from the wiring harness and make separate wiring with a relay to the 3 brake lights. As for the rear fog light I thought installing sth like this, somwhere on the diffuser, says it has E20 certification http://accesoriiavertizariluminoase....195c-774-1.jpg

Cool :thumb:

I didn't know you were allowed to convert the side markers. Anyway, hope it'll all work out and you get past the inspection, please post some pics of the end result. The only thing I miss from the EU spec Camaro is the foldable side mirrors, that could be useful in some situations (say when my kids scratch it up in the garage as they walk past the car...). BTW, which country is this for, Romania?

I don't see why it wouldn't be, they are on the side of the vehicle and colour is amber, as should. In Europe there's no need for the side markers anyway. This's gonna be for Germany.

best of luck passing the TUF inspections...

Tell us more about the modifications you did on your ZL1 to make it compatible with EU law.
